Re: 1991: CT to Alaska in a '67 C10
OK - the owner is a busy guy right now, but might be able to send some more recent pictures soon.
In the meantime, here's a few pics from after the trip when the truck actually got a restoration and a 67-72 bed! The 1st pic shows the GMC he drove while working on the Chevy. The GMC was in pretty rough shape. I honestly think that the bed was held on with a bit of rust and nothing more. The second pic shows the new bed being brought home and the third is a shot of the truck not long after the completion of the life extension program.

I don't know how I missed this the first time but great thread! I'd love to make a trip like this with some great old iron!

There's less old iron now! He stopped by to help me strip my C20 cab. I was lucky he didn't try to take it!

Do you have a map of the route you took by chance? Especially through BC, Yukon and Alaska?

Yeah...um...about that - I had one set of clothes and didn't take a shower for 3 weeks. I didn't even want to be around me...

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm bringing it back from the dead for one hell of a read and for anyone that has missed it...this is incredible.

This is a cool trip. Just like Dinah Shore said "See the USA in your Chevrolet". That was exactly what these trucks were built for camping and road trips.

Actually, it's more like I was on the trip with him. His truck, his idea. The other two of us just grabbed our packs and cash and jumped in.

Cool thread, I must have missed it the first time around. Kinda funny, I have a friend from college who is from Glastonbury, CT. Is that where this truck lives still?

Re: 1991: CT to Alaska in a '67 C10
While cruising through old L6 threads, I found this one.
Some threads are epic, and should never die. Amazing trip, wish I did not have the sense to undertake one like this. Bill |
