Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
Pretty small world. A friend of mine, Pat Daylor is one of the nephews of the "Daylor Motors" where it was purchased new in Wamego. When I was watching the video and saw Daylor motors, Wamego, KS, I knew it had to be a relation. I sent him the links and he got a good kick out of it. It was forwarded to his cousins.
When I got my 69 with 25K miles, the sill plates were bad too. I was amazed of the condition of the floorboards with just the factory red primer. Thanks for sharing. |

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
I am more curious to know how much you got it for - but you don't have to share if you don't want to.
Very nice find indeed. I am sure some automotive museums would be interested in that - might be worth checking into...have them use it for a 50 year lease and then give you the option to buy it back. |

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
Wow, amazing find. I would love to have that truck but no way I'd pay 50k. Personally I wouldn't give more than 25k but that's just me. I'm sure even at that price you guys would make a good profit from the sale.
btw, shouldn't those tires be dry rotted?

btw, shouldn't those tires be dry rotted?[/Q Ok, you obviously have no clue as to what we gave for this truck. So, why you would speculate as to us making a good profit if we sold it for 25k, is beyond me. I realize everyone has their opinion of what it's worth and if that's what it's worth to you, that's fine. I'm not going to get into what we paid for it, but this truck was NOT given to us by any means, we had to pay good money for it. We bought it as an investment and IF and when we decide to sell it, our investment will pay off. We don't intend to get rich or make a killing on it. In fact, whoever buys it, if they decide to, at some point down the road, will probably make money on it as well. As for the tires, you would expect they would be dry rotted, but they are not. Over the 40 years of sitting in that shed, surprisingly, only one of the tires lost air. The right front tire, and that tire does have some dry rot on it from sitting there flat for however long it was flat. But, the rest are fine. |

Re: Not Mine ....79.6 miles on a 70 chevy pu
I have been around these trucks for years and for a truck with this history and the amount of miles NOT on it...... it is well worth 50 imho. even though the words Barrett Jackson makes me puke, I have seen lesser trucks go across the stage that are fetching 30 to 35k easily. and those trucks are restored originals. who knows, those rigs could have been a bargain basement C-10s, but now they are Cheyenne Supers.
this truck is what it is. a very rare, desireable vehicle. it's going to be expensive to purchase this truck, period. when's the last time you've seen a 100 mile original truck..... for that matter a 10k mile truck? it's rare and the owner has every right to ask 50k for it. put this rig across a Barrett Jackson or Mecum auction stage and will just about guarantee it will go for big money. think of all the museums, car dealerships, and automotive restoration companies that would jump all over a rig just to have it sitting in their showroom. still need to give you a call. I'd love to come over to Wamego and take some pics.

Looks like a lot of good parts that could be used on my truck. How much for the grille and spare tire holder
