Re: New Paint, new pics...

I think it looks good and all but IMO why go thru the time and trouble not to mention money and not put a shiney paint job on it, a real paint job with real clear that's gloss?

I just never understood it. I understand doing primer, and I understand it don't hold up, but when it comes to money, I think do it once.

I understand it's different and personal taste so I aint trying to knock you, it's a nice looking truck, just IMO better gloss black.

I love the stance, wheels, and hood looks great.

You said it, it's a matter of opinion....go to any car show and all you see is our trucks with shiny mirror finishes. This one is going to stand out anywhere. I think it's all about cool! and different!

Re: New Paint, new pics...

love the look. my brother just had his 68 camaro rs done in hot rod black. im sure he gets a little annoyed at the many times when people have asked when hes going to paint it thinking its primer. even his auto appraiser asked. the subtle pinstripe on yours looks great on the black

Sorry for the delay, but I just saw this. And, yes, it is the same truck when I bought it in 2007.

Chris, thanks for the input.. For what ever reason, I never got an email telling me you had commented. Either way, When I bought the truck, it was already primer black and I liked it. But, it didn't last long before it faded badly. So, I re-primered it wanting to keep the "Flat Black" look since I was converting it to a BBC truck. I held off having it shot with the Hot Rod Black based on a recommendation from my body man.. (shudda went ahead and done it right I agree now). 6 months later after his primer had faded, I decided to have him shoot it with the Eastwood Kit which I had purchased a year earlier. He decided to Clear Coat it and I'm glad he did. My '57 will have a "shiny" paint job though when it's done.

Ken

Re: New Paint, new pics...

I can understand that if it fades, that would look terrible. I like flat black primer but man if it fades it sucks. It's kind of a new in thing I guess I see alot of ppl on the net and tv do stuff in flat black base and clear. Gotta say man love the stance and the look of it, the cowl the wheels, the big block all of it.

Re: New Paint, new pics...

Great looking truck, of course I'm a bit partial to that look myself (and big block '87s for that matter)! When the time comes to redo my pain, I'm going to give the SEM hot rod black a try, but man the eastwood/clear came out great on your truck!

That's funny!

I'm glad he liked it up there. Gotta love the power of the Internet. Maybe I should start signing my pictures. Wouldn't matter, they'd PS'em out.
