Re: My '67 CST SWB Fleet Big-Window...finally!
Thanks for the nice comments.
The truck is coming along but I haven't made in any changes. For now I'm just enjoying the patina. Just trying to make it safe and driveable. It starts, shifts, drives and rides unbelievably nice for it's age. I've done the tires, clutch, center support bearing/driveshaft, brakes, tune-up/service, etc. I was just at the DMV last week to register a set of correct (my best guess) "Y" commercial CA black license plates. To answer a few questions: I was not at all prepared to find a survivor, but I'll keep it as original as possible of course. I sold the buddy seats to one of a few friends that wanted them. I do still have the freshly rebuilt '68 Corvette 327 that is fairly complete down to the tach-drive distributor, a clean instrument panel with tach + air pressure gauge, and rebuilt original tilt black steering column....that I may or may not use but I'll wait a while to decide. I was drawn to North Carolina by an internet ad for a 67 CST...that is still running if you Google for it. The ad's owner, turns out, had sold it years ago to the owner of Dave's Truck Parts in NC. I called the owner at Dave's, to find out that he had sold the truck within hours of getting it. Then he told me that just that morning he had seen an ad for a "sister" to that truck in the Vale area. I checked the Vale, NC Craigslist and there it was for an asking price of $5,000.00. I bought it site unseen and had it shipped to Los Angeles. Stay tuned, Wayne

Very nice truck!
If i owned it... i would get everything in working order. Then drive the crap out of it, just like in 1967.

Re: My '67 CST SWB Fleet Big-Window...finally!
I'm don't really know if I'm a fan of bumper guards. That is I don't think I'd buy an expensive NOS set if they came along for my other pickups.
BUT...the '67 seems to have had them from the factory or the dealer so I'll keep them on for now. When/if the bumpers gets re-done then I'll probably question having them done. I may just keep them on the shelf as part of the saved original equipment. They seem to fit with all the original camper-look but I won't be restoring it as a camper. Up to you though, just my $.02.

Re: Any Progress
Thanks for askin' Not as much as I 'd like. It took a while to figure out what number sequences would be correct for a '67 issue Black California Commercial license plates. I found a pair but the local independent DMV office that I usually work with wouldn't process them. It seems that the Sacramento has issues with the "63" embossed numbers in the upper right corner of most black plates. Somewhere in '67-'68 they stopped stamping the "63" in the corner. Don't know why. My '69 Nova and Chevelle both have their original black plates and there's no "63" stamp. There is absolutely NOTHING in the new YOM "Year of Manufacture" code that even mention plates needing the "63" stamp...but according to my local independent DMV shop even if they process them, Sacramento sends them back. So I tried getting them registered at the local State DMV office and it they did it without any questions. It's been about 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything yet. Got my fingers crossed. Wayne

Re: My '67 CST SWB Fleet Big-Window...finally!
I'm not driving it much. It smokes pretty bad. The engine has never been
apart. The good news is that almost every original engine part is in tact. The odometer is at 15K. So it will be in the shop soon for a light rebuild and will do the clutch at the same time. I'm tempted to add dual exhaust at the same time but dought if it was a factory option....opinions? Actually the bed is pretty straight with only surface rust. It seems to have had a camper on it most of it's life. It was ordered camper-equipped with the optional independent suspension leafs in the rear and camper mirrors. Wayne

Re: My '67 CST SWB Fleet Big-Window...finally!
Nice Pickup!
Do you (or anyone else) know the interior color? This color isn't reproduced like others are. I grew up with a 68 SWB Custom Cab that had the same interior color. In person, I have only seen one other pickup with this color. I have heard of a couple others that are out there. Wonder how many there are out there?

Re: My '67 CST SWB Fleet Big-Window...finally!
Thanks John. Now that you say that, I have seen that color in the mid 60's chevys.
Didn't mean to high jack the thread.
