The front marker lights are pretty much worthless without turnsignals. The old wire and patch ons was not very safe. Time to make it better.
A stock single wire marker light Get it all stripped down I wasn't going to place an order to Classic Parts for awhile, so I pulled these off the shelf. Picked up for cheap and no plans to use them. The hole in the back needs to be opened up to about 11/16". A rat tail file worked well. Test fitting the new socket Marking the hole for the #6 hold down screw. All fastened down Now we have a marker/turn signal. I'll get yellow bulbs later, maybe. |

Timely update, I am working on my TF parking lights and wanted to do the same thing. Were the donor for MC or ATV??

Actually they came in a Mr Roadster box, Speedway Motors. Classic Parts in Missouri has a kit for $10 if I recall correctly.

Here is a little update.
Got the running board brackets started. Milled the slots on buddy Ron's machine down in SPAM land. He let me do them too. Tonight I finished getting the go-fast pedal set up. |

Working on the box a bit tonight. Had some angle strips bent up and welded them to the side. The plan is to use the dakota floor and put box liner in it. No wood in the box (something doesn't sound right about that).
Looks pretty good. |

Decided to lose the bench in favor of some 2000 seats with built in seat belts. It is a 40/20/40 and the 20 is too wide, still working that part out.
Here is the sub-frame layed out on the fab table Bolted to the sub-frame and set in place You can see the notch at the back, no in cab tank anymore Been having great weather here, finally. trying to get trees trimmed and the yard ready for winter yuk, it's comming. More updates as soon as the outdoor work gets done. |

Got to show I still have my hands on this project,
Don't have much on the process, but the results are encouraging. Spent most of 6 weeks scratching the hair off the top of my head. Added a fender and tail light for effect. The tailgate is only good for mock up. But check out the steel floor. Alot more finish work ahead. |

Been awhile, here are some updates.
Well I have been trying to figure out what battery to use and where to put it. To help me visualize this enigma I made 3 battery models out of cardboard, a PC 680 from Odyssey (7.3 x 3.7 x 6.7), a Group 51R (9.4 x 5 x 8.7) and a Group 75 (9 x 7 x 7.75) because I had it. Here is a good link on battery sizes http://www.rtpnet.org/~teaa/bcigroup.html Most of the problem is that the Dakota chassis puts the frame rail in the way of the original battery location. So I was considering, behind the seat, on the firewall, in the bed and in the fender well. I almost went with a Odyssey PC680, small & dry battery. Guys are using them on modifieds and roadsters with good success. Just couldn't bring myself to it. The Group 51R fit in the hole of the original along side the Dakota frame. So I made a battery tray from the scrap pile and fit it to the truck. I added a gravel shield and a removable tray All bolted down |

Got the running boards mounted today. Tomorrow they come back off to get primed and add gussets to the mounts. Getting this done was a huge relief.

It is a Kwik Lift. They went out of business when the economy tanked. I picked this up from my brother in law when he upgraded to a 4 post lift.

Sadly no, got burned out and let it sit for 15 months. Getting back on it now and should be on the road in May 2015.
I think it is a 92.

Yesterday I got the passenger window and rolling easy. Replaced the 3 guide rollers. Would have completed the drivers door too but made an embarrassing mistake.
Painted the dash and kick panels with the gray hammer tone today. Also got the cowl vent out and cleaned up. Had to lube the hinge to get it to pivot again.

Feels like there should be more pics for the amount of work I did.
Put the dash trim back on. Patching the floor. Gonna take a while to weld this all in. This part might be a little backwards. I have the muffler and dual tailpipes on but still don't have anything from the manifolds to the muffler. The tips were cut from a mandrel bend I had. Really like that smooth turn down. Placed a good sized order with Classic Parts, needed the guide rollers for the drivers door window regulator. Don't ya know, that item was back ordered.

I knew I forgot some.
Painted the back panel in the cab. Made some blanks for the visor mounts. At $75 it might be awhile before it gets visors. Last week I put in the MOON big foot gas pedal. Also been working on all the floor welding.

Made some progress today while feeling crappy.
Put in the electric wiper conversion. Said a few bad words. Put the upper cowl vent back in with a new rubber gasket and drain tube. Replaced the motor on the heater with a 12 volt. Said a lot of bad words. Fan wheel was STUCK on the shaft. Going to drop the core off tomorrow to be cleaned and tested, don't want any leaks when it gets put in. Freed up the defroster cable and bolted it under the dash with the new fan switch.

Last month I installed the Custom Autosound stereo. Got some different rear fenders from a friend. Got them put on today.
