Re: what was your first truck everyone?

I Got it when I was 15... and hated it! I wanted an El Camino... My Mom took me to drive a 1970 396 SS El Camino 4 spd, Red with Black stripes... was $3500 in 1978... I was sooo Bummed when I could not get the SS.

Red 1972 Ford f-100 with 302 and 3-on-the-tree which I bought for $200. Needed minimal work for inspection.

Sorry, no pics.

Re: what was your first truck everyone?

1975 Ford Explorer, plain jane with a 360, armstrong power steering, no A/C and three on the tree. Ugly as a man's butt baby poop brown with a yellow accent stripe. Second was a '77 Chevy and it's been Chevy trucks ever since.

Re: what was your first truck everyone?

My first truck was a 77 short bed Chevy. It was already fixed up when I got it. I traded my 70 split bumper for the truck. Guards red with everything shaved. The only problem with the truck, was that it had a 305 in it. I solved that one with a built 396 BB. I really miss this one.

Re: what was your first truck everyone?

!966 long bed 1/2 ton. I traded a 73 mustang to my father for it. Hey a ford for a chevy is good trade reguardless. It came with 350 and 3 spd. zdue to tight wad boss and no cash ne day when it was low on oil and before I could get to store that would take a check it blew the motor.
I ad freind that had complete 283 that the machine shop told him would run but needed boring in order to last. I bought it for 200 with new rings bearings and cam and lifters. I built it with help from freind who also got us back into racing(boy 750,000.00 bucks later I realize that was one expensive motor). I added headers and California turbo(was 1985). It sounded great only one problem the 3pds coudn't handle my natraul urge to burn tires. try 14 trannys in 12 months. Heck I had one guy who dealt with used truck parts on stand by.Hey they only cost $90 each. I could change in 15 minutes and that was with a 2 peice drive shaft.
Man was lot of work, any money I could make, but damn it was fun.

Talking Re: what was your first truck everyone?

Man! I wish I took a picture of that thing! Although it wasn't a truck, it has a funny story. It was a '77 Chevy Nomad Van that I bought off a guy in Oakland for $500 bucks. The monster was painted construction orange and they were doing median work down San Pablo for something like two miles down the road at once. I had to drive it every day for work and every single construction worker would stop and stare like they didn't know what the hell I was. It was hilarious. After about a week I painted it flat grey with a brush and taped off and sprayed silver A-Team stripes down the sides. Completly ridiculous! A couple of years later I was driving into Oakland from San Diego and a sea gull did a barrel roll on the freeway and left a perfect grease print right across the windshield! Geez! I wish I had pictures of that!
Ps, Hitcher, glad that you're Ok, sorry about your truck. That looked like a real beaut'.

Technically it was a 396 powered 66 El Camino I had for ten years but my first real truck was an 81 K20 Silverado. I regret ever getting rid of that truck.

First "new" vehicle I ever bought... 1985 S15 Pickup.. it was a sweet little truck and very dependable... it was a gutless wonder though. 3.8 liter V-6 was the biggest engine you could get in 1985.
