Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Hey I just noticed you don't live far from some of my family. They live in Manchester now but used to live in Morrison. My cousin does maintenance for Bridgestone.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Bushnell is right off I-75 about 50 miles north of Tampa and west of Orlando. We come up once in a while and I'll make sure too look you up next time we come up. Probably next summer unless something comes up. As for the Pilot Bushing there is a good chance it will be fine they didn't change much if they changed at all.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Don't know for sure, but since I put a pilot bushing for a 350 in a 454 it might.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Just make sure it slides on the input shaft before you install it.
You don't happen to know a Jaryd or Tyler Brock they are my cousins boys and they are about your age?

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
They were in Coffee but I think they go to some kind of home school Co-op but I'm not sure. How and where was the cruise-in I've heard them talk about going to shows and just assumed they were in McMinnville but I'm was probably wrong.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Are those your old and new pressure plates in the bottom pic? If yes, the difference in finger height is unmistakable. The PP in the rear takes a long T/O bearing and the one in front takes a short.

If the new pilot bushing is still loose. LIGHTLY dimple the surface of the bearing with a center punch to knearl (sp) it until you need to tap it in. |

Thanks for the feedback. It's good to hear you eventually got everything sorted out. What did you do about the pilot bushing?

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
Congrats on getting it up and running again! I'm a newbie on here and have been following this thread. I'm starting to have clutch issues and will probably be putting one in my truck soon. You mentioned that you got yours from Autozone. That's where I'll probably get mine from since I have a buddy there who will let me use his discount lol. So from what you can tell does that clutch kit seem to work good? Was there a noticeable difference in driving from the old clutch to the new one? My truck is the first vehicle I have owned that's had a manual trans, that's why all the questions. I have helped my buddies in the past put clutches in there vehicles, but I never got to drive them to experience the differences.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
I got the "Clutch Kit" for my '71 C-10 from Auto Zone and so far it works great. We had no problems putting it on.

Re: New clutch, truck barely moves now,
i am real glad you got things worked out. I have found these trucks can be confusing at times, at least for me.
You have to watch those guys/girls at the box auto parts stores, lol. I know from experience, I worked at Auto Zone for 3 years and O'Rielly's for a year. It was not unusual for the wrong part to be in a box. When people returned new parts we were supposed to check the contents of the box to make sure the right parts were in the box. Unfortunately it did not always happen. Heck, we even got the wrong part in a box from the warehouse at times.
