No your not hiyjacking as your trying to help and on subject.

Don't know how much shipping would be but that would sure save me some fabrication time! If i was close i'd snab it up!

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

One option to think about to hold a spare tire could be to mount a trailer hitch reciever in the front of your truck and a spare tire carrier, bike rack, luggage rack ect can be interchanged with a nice clean look.

I do like the look of the brush gaurd and think I will look for one for my 70.

Just a thought.

It came on the truck when I got it in the late 90's. It's been on there a long time. Probably the early 80's. It is a production piece, though I can't find any identifying marks. It's a lot beefier than some of the other tube push bars that I have seen in person.

I can get some better pictures if anyone is interested.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

I found one today JUST LIKE red72blazers..

But its on a 73-87

It mounts to the 4 middle bolts on the bumper..

Does anyone know if 67-72/73/87 bumpers are the same pattern? Its white but Would looks great powdercoated or even painted again (rusty).

Thansk!!!

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

Those LMC brush gaurds aren't as beefy as mine......I do have a extra guard off of a 73+ truck somewhere....I'm going to take some better pictures of mine and the other one so you can get an idea of how much stronger the one on my truck is.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

The spacing of the frame rails is the same on 73-87s as it is on 67-72,but...the 67-72 front sheet metal comes to a greater peak than the flatter 73-87 body. Then, the fact that the bumpers have completely different profiles assures that they will not interchange.

Re: Pushbars or brush guards for 67-72 trucks?

I used a snow plow mount for 81-87s on a '71.It fit in every way except having to be moved forward a bit.Of the four mounting holes, two worked and I drilled the other two.It was designed to use the front spring hanger as a shear stop and I welded a tab on the frame to do that.IIRC the whole mount was moved forward about 2",maybe a bit more. The fit to bumper wasn't an issue because it went behind the bumper and I made one from 2 x 6 tube anyway. This'll give you an idea of how close dimensions are between the two designs.Later winch bumpers can be mounted with very little adaptation.
These things are simple to make.I should consider making some up.I made up a Blazer skid fuel tank skid plate thinking people would buy them and it's still sitting after 3 or so years,a few swap meets and listing in the parts forum. That thing cost me $125 to make and I was offering them at cost just to provide a cool product to fellow members. You used to be able to buy these brush guards for about $75 (25-30 years ago).I wonder what people would pay now.I'm not offering at this point.Just pondering.
