Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

We can always work something out. If need be bring it over and we can make that frame correct if it is truely off. That's not that big of a deal.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

You're talking about this kit?
The PB stuff works,... as long as the rearend is placed in the correct spot on the frame, otherwise the notch won't line up with the axle tubes.

Some people cut in front of the trailing arm crossmember (12") and move the rear cab mount back.
(and then cut off 8" from the frame rails back by the rear bumper)

Here's a good tech article from ECE's website:

Yes sir that is the kit.. I would like to get his trailing arm crossmember to go along with it.. I figure i can measure alot and fix the issue if there is one with this set up.. I just need a grand or so. I will have to put the wife on the corner this weekend. (-;

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

If I remember right Nates measurements are taken from the front bed mount rear rivet. Then the centerline of the axle is 29.5" back. Don't quote me from memory but I will verify tonight.

haha if mine comes back like 40 inches I will be worried. LOL I will measure as soon as i can get back to my truck.

My front bed mount still has one rivet (the rear one).. Then the front rivet closest to the cab is removed and welded.. That is were they cut it. basically right inline with the front rivet.. But if that is how Nate gave you the measurements then it should tell me if the trailing arm crossmember is right.. I assume if its off its not off by much.

Its one of the rivets. I know the measurement is 29.5". So its either the front mount rear rivet or the second mount front rivet. I will verify for sure.

That welder is amazing Brian...

Now we should be seeing some progress.

And I see that you're considering going all out with the mild PB rear, excellent choice IMO.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Picked up the 700r4 from 69cst-v last night and also just bought a cab from teeitup. I havent seen it in person but I figure it might be easier to work a cab with it off the truck. My plan is to get the new cab finished up while driving my truck this summer then late summer possibly putting on the new cab. The good is that the stereo hasnt been cut and its an AC cab.
I hope to get some more updates soon but I need to focus on my Harley for the next few months.. I want to have it running by this Spring.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

As for the Harley.. I welded on some Tank Extension yesterday.. I also am wiring up a dakota digital speedo, moved my ignition switch so its not on the dash.. I also plan to make a custom fiberglass dash then paint it all before spring.... I have some pictures of my tank extension that I added yesterday that I will post when i get time.. I am planning on starting the trans install on my truck soon. I think we decided to pull the motor so we dont have to lay on our backs plus that will give us more time to paint clean etc..

Just not enough time in the day (-: oh well long drawn out projects are good.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Well I know I havent posted in a long while.. The reasoning is that its been way to cold to work on anything in my opinion. The only thing I have been doing is working on the harley. I am posting some pictures below of the added tank extensions. I am now going to make a custom fiberglass dash to house my new Dakota Digital Speedo/tach.. Then I plan to prepare for paint. I actually like the look of the satin black sealer i used on my tank so I think I am going to shoot the whole bike that color.. Its either that or gloss black. What do you guys think? The satin black will be faster and cheaper which is appealing since its going to be March soon and riding weather will be upon us.

As for the truck i havent done anything. I did drive out and start it the other day and that got me fired up. My buddy and I plan to pull the engine soon so I can do some clean up and bolt up the 700r4 that I got from 69cstv. Hopefully it works like he said it would (-;

Then I plan to attack the truck with my new welder and get things in primer.

Hope all is well with everyone.

here are the pics of the Harley.

Brian... those tank extensions look killer!

It's a toss up for me on either satin or gloss black on the bike. Both colors look great and offer their own appeal and look. Can't even see any weld lines on the tank, awesome work!

Thanks.. Trust me there is some puddy in there. LOL The way you have to weld them on you are stuck with an area that needs bondo. That is the way everyone does it though. They are looking pretty good.. I plan to shoot it some high build primer soon and then do some final sanding on the entire bike and probably go the satin black color. It really makes the chrome pop on the bike and its cheaper and easier to get rolling.

I appreciate the props on the bike and welder.. I am excited to tear in my truck.. I have a lot of plans for it.

Yes that bed was ugly.... I just hope I can get this one fixed up.. the drivers side has some issues but atleast its not rust.. I should be able to patch it up nicely with this new welder.. I am out of gas already on the welder so I hope to get some soon.. It would be nice to have teh truck running so I could take it to get filled (-;

What you would need to do is buy the wood floor cross sills. You can buy them repo'd or used like I did. I plan to put a wood floor in mine soon but thought I would wait until I get my air ride all set up. The side panels fenderwells are the same. The front panel next to the cab is longer on a wood style bed but you can buy a 20 dollar adapter that you weld on from classic parts. Anyway I hope this helps. The answer is yes you can do it but it would cost you some money to get the cross sills.
