How rare is a factory cruise control. I have one that I'm going to install this summer that has been rebuilt. Completed with the installation instructions.

I think (not for sure though) "less than 2% total trucks made" had cruise. I know my One Ton Longhorn has it.

I have a GMC and it has leaf springs. (they are broken right now but that is beside the point.) I don't have any numbers but it would be interesting to see how many 2WD trucks out there have leaf springs compared to coil. Just becouse leaf springs where stock does not mean that most people didn't select the coils. One other possibility is that alot of trucks could have been converted after the fact since it is a direct bolt up conversion with no new holes or anything to drill. I've been considering doing the conversion on mine since it will be easier to lower and bag. The only bag option I've found for leaf springs are helper bags and that will not help my handling very much if at all. All that will do is help my truck when I hall a heavy load and since my GMC is no longer a work truck the biggest load it will ever see is towing a ski boat. Bags just wouldn't be worth it for me if I leave the leaf springs back there!

I have (had) two side-mounted tire carriers, is that rare?

options

I think the leaf spring option was pretty common on the GMC's. I don't know how rare this stuff is but here goes: 67 cst big window shorty with 3 speed overdrive, 71 cheyenne 402 3 speed column shift. 70 blazer 6 cyl auto with black roof, also have 72 cheyenne super with factory leaf springs. don't know how rare any of this is,maybe "uncommon" is a better word.

As my name implies, what about speed alert? aka poor man's man's cruise control. 10 years ago I was at a Super Chevy Show in Memphis and saw a 69 with a 307, 3-speed overdrive, and speed alert. According to the owner, sa was the rarest option in 69. My 68 has it and I'm sure there had to be less built in that year.

Speed warning is pretty rare, in fact I WANT ONE!! But I would have to say IMO that the shoulder belts are the rarest thing on these trucks. I have only seen one truck that came factory with them and I know alot of guys around here with high option trucks.

That pic is of my bro. You can kinda see the belts. In this pic you can really see 'em. I haven't got the truck back from S. KY yet, so that's all the pics I've got. The only other option it's got is a large back window. I don't think that shoulder belts are rare if my beast has 'em. Later

Id say those are out of a newer model Chebby.I have a set of originals.they are a belt that is a male end that hangs from the cab inside and when not in use the male in pushes back into the rubber plastic thats part of the belt(cant think of correct name) and when it is in use it plugs into a standard LOOKING female end that looks like the rest of the belts with the little GM emblem in the middle.none of our trucks had retractable from the factory.
Cruise is rare but i dont think as much as the belts i have 2 cruises that ive pulled both from 1970's one a Burb other a truck,no other options really except the burb was 402t400,both will making a debut on ebay shortly.along with the belts, and any other useless option.onlything im keeping is 1 extra tach, tilt, and buckets incase i get another truck.

hrmm? Possibly. I just thought they were stockers, cuz they matched the interior very well. I'll have to check 'em out later, when i get the truck to my house finally.

Ok, I got another one.

Rearview mirror map lights.

I think shoulder belts are probably the rarest of the rare unless there is some other off the wall weird option that is out there.

How about locking glovebox, or even glovebox light? Maybe side storage toolbox? Roumor has it there is a longhorn stepside about 30 miles from here. Is this possible?

Gee_Emm, are you making those up? I hope you are because I have never heard of this stuff before and thought I knew a little about these trucks. How about power lumbar support? Power windows/locks? Car alarm? Haha

Nope I am serious, there is a picture of the back up light deletes in the factory assembly manual, and as for the rear view mirror, I will try and find a pic of it.

Has anyone ever found a complete option sheet? Id like to find a complete list of every option available. I thought my 1 ton longhorn super was a rarity, but now I wonder.

Gee_Emm alot of those options you are listing are mods available from Early classic enterprises. The shoulder straps did come as an option but there are companies that make exact replicas that bolt into existing holes, (1/2 hour to install). So unless your build sheet has it yours is probably after the fact. It is getting more and more difficult to figure out what is stock and what is not with all the aftermarket stuff available and with people customising their vehicles every day.

monteman, as for your two cigarette lighters one was added after the fact. Look for something missing that your truck should have had, Like a choke or maybe an in dash throttle control. All the holes for headlights, choke, windshield wipers, the throttle control, and ignition switch where pretty much the same size so moving them around is an option. Actually I heard that in 67 to 68 the windshield wipers where put on oneside of the steering wheel then from 69 to 72 it was moved to the other side!

Actually all of the options I have listed are original options for these trucks, not repros or add ons. I will try to find pictures of them for those that think I am BSing.
