Build looks good so far! What kind of grinder are you using? Are you using rattle can primer?

Re: 67 Chevy LWB Stepper RestoMod

late christmas is still christmas.

and im using a harbor freight $16.99 (christmas sale) grinder, also the primer I am using is rustoleum in the quart with a brush. I am thinning it 3 parts paint, one part mineral spirits to help it self-level and it fills sanding scratches really well and is thick enough to wet sand out imperfections with 800-1000g sand paper. When all the body work is done, I am gonna borrow a gun and compressor and shoot primer at it.

thanks, I will hopefully be getting a LOT more done when the weather warms up. I was on a role, until the rain and cold came.

Re: 67 Chevy LWB Stepper RestoMod

maybe some tomorrow. I am hoping. I think I am gonna pick up a yard of gravel for under/around my truck to help fire-safe it while welding soon.

Re: 67 Chevy LWB Stepper RestoMod

So I got outside for a few minutes sunday. It was nice so I decided to not get too deep into something so I just did stuff lol. I disassembled my "new" grill, one of my hoops is immaculate, the other has 2 tiny dings so what I am gonna do is make molds of the front and back where its straight (out of sculpey) bake it and use them to tap the dings back to shape. same with the headlight bezels. I wirewheeled the front of the frame (crossmember forwards) and primed it with rust converter/sealer. also primed the "under cowl" area to keep surface rust down while I am doing all the rest of this crap. I hope to get the other rear fender and bed off next weekend but who knows. I still haven't seen the whole frame. I need some hammer finish for my suspension parts and satin black for the rest of the frame over the sealer.

I couldn't wait so I just test fitted these!

Re: 67 Chevy LWB Stepper RestoMod

I am waiting on tax return to buy more goodies, I am gonna pick up a half decent compressor and sand blaster. While I wait, I sanded down and repainted my "new" front grille. I laid the trim and emblem back on, before they go on permanently I am going to get new hoop hardware to help stave the rust.

Re: 67 Chevy LWB Stepper RestoMod

Thanks rick, He follows me around like a .... umm yeah puppy lol.

I would have some progress on the truck but we cleaned the yard and repaired house for impending doom last weekend and now im sitting here watching the snow melt off my truck... On a side note, I am pouring the slab for my garage with my tax return. so hopefully I can get that under way soon.
