Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
so i finally got around to putting my sway bar and pitman arm on (no pics yet).
first off- the sway bar in conjunction with the POL tubular LCA doesnt exactly mount like their directions say. i didnt use the "lowered" bracket at all. i did have to drill the rivet in the radiator support though. i may not have the bar mounted properly but ther was only one way it was going on. the pitman arm was straight forward and fairly easy considering my buddy had to make an arm puller out of rebar and angle iron. it was a fancy apparatus to say the least but, it worked.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
Truck looks good man. You're right, the end link doesn't look right, but I can't place what's wrong. Funny they would mount like that and not like the 73-87 bars do......tubular a-arm difference I guess......

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
kinda at a stand still until i figure out what "needs" versus what i "want" to be done. i have to adress the exhaust (it leaks) and wiring (needs updating badly) i want to start repairing body panels so it can be painted..... i also want new wheels/tires....too much to sort out.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
as of right now i have CPP 4 in drop springs on the rear/ 2inch springs,2.5in spindles/ and not sure what the drop on the control arms are (they are the POL tubular upper and lower control arms).
what i can say is that it is crazy low on the front end. i am looking into the porterbuilt dropmember for additional ground clearance as long it will work with my current control arms. and possibly bagging the rear with the porterbuilt rear dropmember just so i can even it out while parked. $1900 isnt bad for the amount and quality of stuff they offer for the rear.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
so now i am debating my next mod. i want to bring the raer of the truck down. there are 2 ways i am thinking about. Porterbuilt dropmember (would require bagging the front also) or Porterbuilt tubular trailing arms in the 3" drop fashion.
i love my static drop and i get a ton compliments around town, i also like the idea of bags due to the fact that i could lay frame. can anyone help me make my mind up?

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
it's very simple. how much time and money do you have? it costs alot of money to lay frame. and alot of extra work--zing rear frame etc.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
i have a ton of time...at least i hope so, Lord willing. as for the money it really depends on if i make E6 this year. if not then it will be a slow build like i planned. if i do then it will go quicker

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
well my friend was deployed for 6 months and returned home finally. he is building a rotisserie for his 67 Camaro that will be adjustable to hold my cab or bed. it is almost complete.
as for any updates to my truck there havent been any. i have just been driving on the weekends and enjoying fmaily cruise time! my son started kindegarten and next week they are discussing "Modes of transportation" turns out his teacher is a gear head and her husband has a nice 51 or 52 Chevy pickup. she asked if i would be willing to bring my truck and let my son tell all his class mates about it. She enjoys talking "cars" with him because he knows way more about them than your averavge 5 year old. Hopefully around the first of the year i will be able to make some progress since nothing has been done for almost a year now.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
Both sorry and congrats on your next posting!!
When my wife and I got posted to Hawaii from Oklahoma, we put 4 cars in storage for 4 years. To us it was worth it. There is a photo in my Tempest link of the day we loaded them up on a car hauler when we got back to the mainland. It is a sadness for your truck, but I am willing to bet you are going to like Europe !!

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
we are hoping it will be fun. i have considered storing the truck but 4 years is a long time for an old truck to sit and not be used. there is no garantee that we will be back in 4 years also. i would rather someone else have fun with it.

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
Well in a new turn of events, my son was denied travel to Lakenheath due to his medical conditions. you know what that means...... now I don't have to sell and I can spend money on it again!!!!

Re: Stealth_Weapons 63 project
plans now are sourcing an LS motor, decide if I want an auto or keep a manual trans, convert the rear end to disc brakes, a ton of paint/body work.
