Also got the twin cooling fans m ounted a little more solid. They were held on with zip ties and sheet rock screws. Very clean with new wiring and relay.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

OK, a lot has been going on, just can't see most of it. My friend Matt is doing a great job on re-wiring the truck. I have been cleaning parts and ordering parts. Did something simple today, cleaned up the alternator and blasted/painted the pulleys. Not much but something.

wow! that's crazy hacking on the motor mount. Must have wanted to use some drop down headers that weren't quite right for the truck?

OK, time to get back to work on the truck. Been kind of busy doing things around the shop and house. Plans for today, new mounts. That should help us decide what manifolds/headers to go with.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Did something simple, yet hard, last night. Have a good friend who just hates rubber fuel line and gives everyone a hard time about. He has a point and i do value his opinion. So, i tried my hand at plumbing. It turned out OK, for now. A little aluminum engine paint on that compression fitting will help a lot I think.

Probably one of the best 'bang for the buck" projects. New lens, bezel and printed circuit. Quick and easy.

Doug, just noticed you have a big block as well. What kind of headers/exhaust manifolds are you running?? Thanks, Fred.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

My headers are for a 1973 and later, but i've got 73 and later motor mounts as well. you only have to drill 4 holes and its a lot easier to find headers.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Ok, it has been a while since the last update. We ended up going with another style of headers, the 3/4 length ones. They worked great once we got the 3 speed trans crossmember cut out. have done a few more things, hoping to get some accomplished this week before we go to the swapmeet in Springfield. Headers, valve covers, pcv system and throttle return spring this week. Thanks for all the words of encouragement and hopefully we are back on track now We are NOT leaving those plug wires all strung out like that, just wanted to look at what we had gotten done and take a break.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

OK, trying to get back on the truck.. Work, family,, life in general happens, you all know how it goes. Took the time to route my plug wires. Bought some Made 4 You wire holders. Had never seen them in person but we are really happy with the quality of them.. Pics don't look right, the blue is a darker, brighter color. I hope we are back to making progress on the truck. My buddy came over Wednesday night and worked on the wiring some more but it is coming around.

Re: project "Cheap Bastard" 70 short wide..

Hey Mike, thanks again for the words of encouragment. Wasn't much to miss for a while, we kind of got busy with real life. We should be able to make a little progress every couple of days now, not much, but a little. And, we are FOR SURE low budget. Say hey to everyone in the great state of OKLAHOMA for us. Thanks, Fred.
