Re: 1966 Biscayne 427
Yeah I picked up a set at a swap meet a while ago just in case I decided to go the steel wheel route. I still really like the torque thrusts on it.

A keeper for sure! When I was 12 yrs old (1978), on my way home after school, I rode my bicycle past a 1965 factory original Marina blue on blue SS Impala, complete with a 396/325hp 2 speed glide, mint interior (buckets, gauges in hump console, tach, etc.), SS hubcaps, all exterior trim and badges. It was parked in a church parking lot all by itself, looking mean, but sad because it never moved. Fast forward 4 yrs later & on my 16th birthday, I paid $200 to the original owner (the preacher), & was handed a clear title to my (wet) dream muscle car! A couple of gallons of fuel, 3 qts of trans fluid, & a new battery & I was cruising in style!! I drove it 6 miles & on my way to Mom's house to show it off, I wound up getting pulled over after 1 of the rusted mufflers burped out a couple of backfires while turning in front of a cop car waiting to go the other way. They towed the car because I had no license, registration, or insurance. 4 days later I scraped up a couple hundred bucks for the tow company, but when I called to find out what the bill was, they told me $250 wrecker fee, & $1150 for storage... I bet I'd still have that car if it hadn't been stolen from me.

Re: 1966 Biscayne 427
Oh geez that’s a crazy story! I too was 16 years old and fell in love with a 1965 Impala SS red in color with a black interior 2spd Power glide but had a 283. This particular car was at a pawn shop and I could have owned it for 1800.00 in 1988. I was so excited and in my mind that was my car and I was going to own it. I had talked my dad into coming to check it out with me and he talked me out of it. The next day the guy that had pawned it came back for it so I missed out on that car. That car still crosses my mind whenever I see a 1965 impala. I have a love for the full size Chevys and always will.
