Re: Tint or no tint???
i had my sides tinted until a thief decided to pop a hole in my window to unlock the door. the tint held the window together and gave them a nice hiding spot to try and steal my stereo. they didn't get my stereo, they just broke it and the dash bezel and the dome light.
that was almost ten years ago and i just started to want to tint it again. |

Re: Tint or no tint???
On a more serious note, I am going to tint my back window for summer and remove it for winter. At walmart they have some tint that can be removed easily. It's a thicker film tint and can be removed real easy. I need it here in Cali as I have skin cancer.
Skin cancer can be treated if you get seen by your skin Doc regularly. Being seen with an ugly GF you have to move far far away Last edited by 1LowToy; 02-20-2011 at 12:12 AM. |

Re: Tint or no tint???
IMO, classics look silly with tint. New(er) vehicles can get away with it, but older cars/trucks look better without.

Re: Tint or no tint???
Maybe it's a regional thing, where I grew up you never saw tint unless you went into the city, all the city boys with their Monte Carlos and Cutlasses had dark tinted windows and curb feelers and 13 inch wire wheels and hydraulics. So, I always just kinda lumped it in with other things that I made fun of. Can't use the word here, some might find it offensive.
I can see having it if you live in the south where it's too hot. I usually plow with my daily drivers, and it makes it a lot harder to see. I did throw some tint on the back window of my extended cab after I had my first kid, didn't want to cook her back there. I don't mind factory tint at all, but aftermarket dark tint is so obviously aftermarket, I just hate how it looks. That said, I'll probably do a little in the back of my crewcab, because it does kind of look like a fishbowl with all that glass. Wouldn't put it on the front windows though, it's not only illegal, it's too hard to drive at night. And nothing looks worse than the cheap tint that looks purple. While we're on the subject, I just got a 94 Suburban, and it has a slight mirror tint on the rear windows. I read somewhere they were offered with green (rare), mirrored or black. I wish I hadn't noticed it because now it bugs me. I wish it was dark instead, then the windows would blend in with the black body. Instead they contrast with the paint.

Re: Tint or no tint???
I'm about the tint... It really helps here in Cali, especially in the Summers... it really helps keep the cab cool, when I run the A/C.
back window is 5% front windows, and vents are 25%

Re: Tint or no tint???
I tinted mine. From what I hear you cam tint your winshield to the line on the right side of the windshield, witch is 5" from the top. Some cops judge it by the rearview mirror. I don't have one so I went a little lower. 5% on the wing windows, rear, and windshield. 25% on door glass, so it's leagal and the truck will pass inspection. Can someone help with . How to down load pictures?

Re: Tint or no tint???
I think tint is way better then no tint and if you want to show off your interior then roll down your windows
Just my opinion! |

Re: Tint or no tint???
Tint is on the short list of things to do before summer rolls around. My buddies 85 Dodge had 5% all the way around and it dropped the temp in the cab 10* in the summer
