I remember when the McClaren tuck made the journey back east.

Here's a truck I helped a guy out on. He needed rear drums for the HO72 and needed it inspected pretty quick to get a contract requiring x amount of registered trucks. We ended up making 14-bot brakes work on the HO72.

Special k, looking at those pictures i thought to myself, man that lot looks familiar! then i scrolled down and i was like hey thats my dads shop! Im Jack-of-Arts' son

Here are some pics that Allen from FT Meyers, FL sent me. The last 2 are of my truck taken 2 or 3 years ago when he was trying to buy it!

Hey Chuckee! That must be odd to see your dad's shop out in cyberspace. I wondered when I might run into you here. How's that truck coming along? Your dad had that truck there to letter it a few years ago and I really liked it. He ended up giving my number to the guy for help finding brake parts...pronto! I suggested looking into swapping brakes from the newer axles on and danged if it didn't work out.
-------------------------------------
I haven't seen pictures of the truck's springs and rear axle. Where do I look? From what I have seen it looks like the axle might be from a Dooley pickup from it's width. Some of the first ones were Dana70s,but most were Corporate 14-bolts.

Oh,I see. It looks like that's the original coil HO52 that had the spring perches changed to leaf. That's why it's wide as a Dooley. It's a C/20 pickup rear converted to dual wheel. That's my guess.

Thanks. Does that jive with the RPO G50 HD REAR SPRING on the SPID?

I'm not sure that tells much. I think the code is the same for heavy spring option whether leaf or coil.

Wow, I just realized that I called Rob Hartley "Rob Hart", sorry about that Commander. That was the Donkey frame that I got from his extended cab truck. Pretty cool when you have a truck that you can fit a 160 inch wheelbase truck on the back of it. AND an Alabama cab and front clip (in that order) hehe. I think I did like, 3200 miles in five days, with NO wipers. What an adventure. After I left Robs, I swung by Jodies old house when she lived in Valdosta and picked up some Burb parts, then up the coast back to the Burgh. Charlie Daniels would be proud of me going to L A via Pensacola.....hehe

Seeing as how your truck was originaly a pickup I'll bet in was a coil spring setup, can you tell what kind of frame has been spliced in?

Re: Lets see pics of your wreckers, slant backs and tow units...you knew this was com

Update:

My trip to Antioch, CA to look at that "movie" car hauler was a bust. On the way there, we were 150ft behind a head-on collision @65MPH, it's the first time for me bein' a "First on the scene". I don't wish that whole ordeal on my worst enemy. I called the hauler owner and he said we were literally 6 minutes from his shop.
The truck had a "1980-somethin' 454-BBC" which turned out to be a 402-BBC, and they couldn't get it started. The part that turned me off was the rust-through on the truck, it needed both rockers, cab corners, glovebox door/frame, inside base of windshield was scary, like '67-69 Camaro scary. I pushed on it and could feel it give and crackle. I hesitate to mention "rust" as I realize some of the seeeerriouus rust you folks on the East Coast deal with every project. The Hauler bed was not "bad", per se, but both sides had been gouged hard across the tool box areas, enough that 2/4 doors were inoperable (one was rusted through in the lower corner, as if a wet rag had leaned against it for 20 years?), the flat where the front wheels of your car would sit were removed and covered with plywood.
The seller was one of these self-proclaimed "old timers" who'd been doin' hotrods forever, he wouldn't budge off of his $2K asking price, so I told him I'd think it over and see if I could find another cab for $350-500. I've since noticed that all the parts/cars he lists are the same ones that he's had "listed" for the last 3-5 years, all prices basically the same. Seriously? In this economy??

I studied the bed construction carefully though, as I formulated a plan....

That's a wild ramp truck. Around here wild ramps are a type of onion we hunt. You could sure haul some onions on that! I never saw a morrell mushroom truck, though. Maybe I should build one. I guess what I'm saying is I always like your ramp truck. Just ignore the other rambling.
