Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
I guess I should have just made this a build thread. Oh well, here is an update. I should have my motor (SBC) on a stand in the garage this weekend. I will get it assembled (cam & top end) and then get ready to drop it in. I've got a th350 to go in with it. I have a fuel pump, 25' of black AN fuel line, and black fittings coming too. I am looking at a couple of options for fuel tanks too. Hopefully I will have a pic or two soon of some work being done. I have some big ideas for this thing.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Finally got my motor over to my house this morning. We have had a ton going on lately. (My mom was in the hospital for 16 days for a spinal tumor. Amongst some other less significant issues.) But I got it now. I also bought some wheels at our Good-Guys swap meet yesterday too. 17" silver painted steel off an 06 Silverado. Got a smokin' deal on them. Here are a couple pics. Sorry the last one is out of focus. But, I would like to know what you think of the copper headers on an all black motor. I like it but my wife doesn't.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
I have a bit of an update. Sorry I didn't take a good picture yet but I will. I got a used front bumper and got it put in place. However, the person that mounted that back woods hillbilly tire carrying monster cut off the frame ends to do it. So now I get to build a bracket of sorts to help support the bumper. But, the bumper helped the look of the front end immensely.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Looks like this will be another nice ride. A definite good replacement for driveway dreams. I love the early 60 burbs!
Are you going to run spacers for those wheels? I tried using some on my 70 and the center holes were too small.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Nice Suburban. The GMC Custom Deluxe trim is very rare (trim all around the windows). GMC suburbans are rare as it is. But then the GMC Custom is even more rare, this was only an option for GMC's.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Thanks for all the comments guys! I do love it. There are a ton of rare options on this one. Which ie what led me to it. I plan to clearance the hub centers if I end up running these wheels. But a buddy has a set of rally wheels that I may just snag instead. My Y pipe...I had been talking to somebody on Facebook about it, was that you?

1972GMCSUB, as soon as I can get under it i will. But we got our 2nd Wednesday snowstorm in a row so I'm not sure when that will be yet. Are you on facebook? I talked to someone about the y pipe and the rest of the exhaust bends and locations. I just don't know who it was.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Been WAY too long since any sort of an update. Should have some good ones this weekend. Having a few buddies over to pull front end and the motor. Then bolting in a front end from a 91 Burb. Hope to finalize the motor assembly too. Need a few more things to get it bolted to the tranny and dropped in. But should be a great weekend for progress.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
Welcome home disc brakes and coil springs! Got the v6 out as well as the stock torsion bar set up. The 91 front end is bolted in. Just need to drill a couple holes. The SBC iis cammed and ready for reassembly (again). We had it built and were turning it over by hand when we tore it back apart and removed a screw head from a cylinder. Don't really now how it got in there or when. But, I am excited to have gotten some progress made.

Re: Picked up a Burb this weekend
I have been off the forum for a while. I am trying to find my inspiration to get this motor put together and get the truck going. Hopefully I will have it running this spring. It's been way too slow they build for my sake this time. but at this point I can't blame anybody but me for that... Okay maybe my wife too. Lol!
