Re: Show me your rear bumper
Totally agree. The stock one looks like 1950s leftover.
Someday, I'll find a used one. Cheap. Local. With brackets. And perfect patina. I can dream, right? |

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Here's mine. I flipped the rear bumper and hid the hitch behind it. I hope the purists don't diss me too hard!

that would be great for my truck because someone had a hitch bolted to the flat part in the center and it ruined the chrome plus now there is 2 bolt holes . the rest of the chrome looks ok. now I have to look at the chrome on the bottom of the bumper . that's great idea and it don't cost anything . this is my bumper before I got it , its on my friends JB's truck that im doing a frame off rebuild on and he's getting all new chrome so I get all the old chrome for my 65 .. |

where the hitch on my chrome bumper was all the chrome is peeled off but the rest of the bumper still looks pretty good. if I don't flip the bumper il buff it with rubbing compound first then dust just the center with some chrome paint . just enough to cover the missing chrome . the chrome is weathered but my truck is not going to have gloss paint . JB's frame off truck is going to be gloss black with a red side stripe . so he needs all new chrome to match the gloss paint . |

Re: Show me your rear bumper
I used a 73-87 and cut it to fit. I looked high and low for a 60-66 or 67-72 and didnt find one used.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Here's mine just as a mock up, its not done yet. I've never seen anyone do this before. Narrowing it about 8 inches on either side and keeping it flush with the tailgate.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Here it is welded, I also welded strips on the backside for strength and filled in the bolt holes. I will post a pic of it mounted when I get around to it.

Re: Show me your rear bumper
Nothing bed/tailgate for reference, but here is a repo 60-66 bumper. I had planned to flip it, but didn't want to mess with fabricating new brackets, so will keep it as-is.
