Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
On your exhaust manifolds. If your have a local machine shop that has a head shop that has a plainer or a big belt sander if you take your heads there and he plains them you don't have to use exhaust gaskets Me if i just got the truck I would drain the pan and put a new filter and gasket in and Check U joints or change them and center Drive shaft carrier they seem to get old and its best to replace it and check all Ball joints and all brake rubber hoses. You might want to think about putting in the HEI it will make the truck run a little better and. Do a rod out on your radiator and if you can check all rubber vacuum hoses as well. And i'm one that likes old trucks Most people are into this New crap stuff me I like the olden times my self

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
Stsalvage thanks for the advice. I didn't know about the exhaust manifold without gaskets that would have been a good route to go maybe I will try that in the future. So I will drain/drop the pan and change the filter.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
I know what you mean I have a newer 2500hd with a dmax and ll the bells and whistles and I go out and buy a 71 lwb and the dmax sets in the garage. I still make excuses to run to the store or where ever in it.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
So things are going well ,even though my co-workers were a little doubtful they changed their minds when they seen it in the parking lot! Today I got up early well early for a Sat and went to DMV where they checked the vin number that's all we have in CT no more dredded inspection. Once that was done I went in and got my plates so now it is officially my DD. I really need to get my camera going I have done so much to it since I got it. Today I even put a new dash pad what a difference it makes that was really the only bad interior part. So tomorrow I will try to post pics.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
Awesome!
I couldn't believe how quick my "inspection" went also. Just a VIN check and that was it.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
I even totally lucked out ,I got to DMV early only to find there was 50 people in front of me , when we finally got inside I was told not to wait in line but to go up to the counter to request that an inspector look at my vin number , he told me once he looks at the vin I would have to get in line , I said that stinks there were 50 people in front of me but by the time we get back in here there will be 150 . At that exact time the head lady was walking by and told me when I'm done outside to see her , I did as I was told and she walked me right over to the front of the line That was awesome in and out in 30 min

They're on Craigslist. Wheels and tires both.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
Chris bought the Alcoa rims that came with my truck so I made a road trip down to his house to drop them off today. A buddy of his had his 70 C/10 there so we had a mini truck show in Wallingford.

Re: '71 Chevy got delivered yesterday
Thanks a lot for bringing the wheels and your beautiful truck everyone enjoyed seeing it and tonight when I put my son to bed he told me how happy he was to see the orange one! Nice job with the pictures too. So the wheels are on and you can only imagine how nice the ride is compared to what I was rolling on. I can't say it enough about how much I enjoy this site!
