Not too much progress on the Tiger clad beast, but I picked up a sweet hood for $40. It's in much better shape than the original one, AND it doesn't have glitter on it!!!

I bought a Power booster from ebustos and I put a Corvette style master cylinder on the Captain today. To my surprise, the original lines fit the new master. I thought I'd have to mix and match brake lines, but I just had to take a few bends out of the brake lines to strectch out to compensate for the booster.

My own build thread depresses me. I really haven't done much to my own truck. Today, aside from getting a wicked sunburn, I tackled a few things on my path to roadworthiness. I robbed the seat tracks from the bench seat and attached them to the driver's side bucket seat from my S10. I had to fab up link to connect the adjustment mechanisms.

Then, 2 good friends came by and got me really motivated. They fabbed up a battery tray from my rotted out tray, even making a battery hold down bracket. I have mounted the aluminum radiator, and replaced the radiator hoses and the serpentine belt and tensioner. With the battery in place, and the wiring rerouted and loomed, we fired up the beast (open headers!!) and burned off some of the paint on the junkyard headers.

I know it's still got a ways to go before it glitters down the street in the Florida sunshine, but I feel a lot better about the progress we made today.

Does anyone know if it's possible to push the steering column closer/ further into the dash to give me more room in the cab. Being 6'5", I could use all the room I can get. Thanks.

you collapse the shaft between the bottom of the column and the steering box.

I"m not running a v6. I"m using the Serpentine brackets and pulleys from a 4.3l, but they're mounted to a sbc 350 with vortec heads.

That is one wild looking truck, both inside and out! I think its cool and funky, but I don't blame you for wanting to make it a little more stock. The glitter is so heavy i thought it looked like dirt until I got a closer look!

I don't think it's a good deal at all!! I tried to shorten the steering shaft, and ended up pulling the entire steering column out of the truck. If I had known, I would have done this when I had the front clip off the truck. My other problem is I didn't measure anything before I pulled it out!!!! Oh well, I"ll try again and see what happens. Thanks for everyone's advice and assistance.

Not sure why my other post was here....weird? Sorry for the issues you're having.

I'd just collapse the shaft and then it moves up and down fairly freely...bolt it to the rag joint and to the column and with the column loosely mounted move it to where you want it then bolt it down tight inside and outside...

Well it was fairly simple. Just never having done one before had me second guessing myself. I replaced the rag joint while I was in there, shortened the column by about 3-4 inches. In the before picture, the dash panel isn't secured, so it's dangling about an inch or 2 out from the dash. In te after pic, the dash panel is properly mounted.

I bought some new rear tires and started checking out my brakes. 3 of the 4 wheel cylinders are leaking, and the right rear wheel seal was pouring. Local parts stores don't really have the parts I"m looking for to make my repairs. I found the left rear wheel cylinder, and that's the only one not leaking!! Snyone got any leads for parts?? I"m keeping the 4-wheel dru setup for now, until I decide to upgrade to 4-wheel disc.

While replacing the wheel seals, I found out my rear gear is a 3.73, but not a posi. The new tires are 275/60r15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. I have a pair of 235/70R15's for the front that I need to have mounted. One of these days, I"ll polish the right rear wheel!!

Try rockauto.com. Member Bmerdoc told me he just got all new 4 wheels worth of drum brake parts off there for cheap...
