Re: Project 67
Finished the passenger side. Drum was frozen onto the shoes. Used a sledge hammer to remove the drum. It took that type of action to get it off. Imagine what it looked like inside. Upon reinstallation I thought I was losing my mind. No spreader bar between the wheel cylinder and above the axle. The one that holds the shoes apart when they are not under pressure. That explains why the it was frozen rusted to the shoe/ drum. This would not have been removed if it was on the frame without a torch. Anyway all new parts and salvaging psrts that were missing both hubs are back to being trustworthy. Drained removed the diff cover. Observation form my point of view as everything looks good. Was surprised as the numbers on the tube from a post on the main board claimed it was a 373 posi. By comparison to what little I know it looks alot like every other one I have have ever seen. No evidence of springs or clutch plates visible having me think it is just a plain 373 non posi unit. If so I will just like I've done the others..reseal with some RTV on the untorn gasket and use standard gear weight lub I used before. Otherwise I would have searched for some high priced lub synthetic for posi gears. With the exception of getting the trac bar nut off it is ready for install under the frame. Pics will follow soon..The leaves in the yard are calling my name before the rain tonight. ..cheers

Re: Project 67
I have to debate on either going to this meet or doing another event that I really don't want to do.
Was going to haul a trailer and sell off my stuff plus a buddies at the same time. But may just take my truck and sell my stuff and let him just go look around. Not sure yet, it's always COLD every single year there. Last year was the snow storm. Stayed as long as I could and still had a good time.

Sammy:
***UPDATE*** I have that HUGE LMC Windshield box in my SBC Chevy. I could not get the passenger '67 in there cuz of the dark. Will try again in the AM since I do not want to rip my soft top cover. It was nice talking to you this evening. Hope you feel better. Scott.

Re: Project 67
Great day for the Six Flags STL Swap Meet.
Huge turn out. Had a great day meeting up with Sammy and doing other automotive stuff afterwards. Sammy: Breaker did not fix my problems. I have a short and I work with an electrian guy will pick his brain if I can't track down the source.

Re: Project 67
Naww since the circuit does not have electricity flowing thru it the house will be okay.
Luckily I have a electrian here at work and he is trying to get a tester to me so I can do some more troubleshooting. This is not fun at all.

Re: Project 67
Well folks looks like some progress starting this week, have plans to sandblast the frame, if that goes well, gonna hit some spots on the cab and inside of the doors and the core support. Goal is to get the air ride and 5 lug disk conversion completed along with a painted frame by summer. And yes we will take pics as we go! Also going to hit the last big swap meet of the spring in the st louis area next sunday to see what we can add to the pile o' parts.

Re: Project 67
Sandblasted the frame today after realizing that it won't work if the air is regulated at the compressor and the blaster we got rolling pretty good took 5 -75lb bags of sand and about 4-5 hrs total with a hose blowing out and having to stop to take it to be repaired. Sammy took some pics he will be posting them up soon. Now to remove some unnecessary items on the frame an get some paint on it!

Re: Project 67
Frame as clean as a Hounds Tooth. Which is pretty clean for you non-country rednecks. Now some more cleaning and epoxy primer. Followed by some paint. Enjoy..

Re: Project 67
Trailing arms are solid and in great shape. Core support is a different story issues there to be addressed. Pin holes under the entire length and the famous battery decay on the battery side. Repair might be extensive and not worth it. Cab firewall and floor may end up getting some sand before said and done. Sand was on sale just over $4 a bag making it a deal. Since a local rental wanted to rent a tow behind trailer 300 lb blaster with 100CFM plus compressor for about $180. If you have doubts about using a 10 lb blaster we had no problems using a 18 CFM upright compressor n saved a boat load of money that way. Five bags of 75 lbs to do a frame that was pressure washed before hand.
