Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

Are you having hubs and brackets made for the truck spindles? If so I'm interested in getting a set too. Maybe we can get a better deal with ordering two sets.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

I have talked with Tobin at Kore3 about it and he said he's going to do it. Said it will prolly require modifying the stock spindle but hubs and brackets will be the big thing.
I think he's just waiting for someone to tell him they are ready for them. It'll be a few months before I'm ready for them at the soonest. I'm sure making two sets would be better encouragement for them though.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

Im down for it. Shoot me a PM when you are ready to do it. If they need I have stock spindles and DJM drop spindles here at the house if they need them for fitment. Shoot me a message and let me know what kind of price they are talkin on the hubs and brackets.

Awesome work Matt! Im certain your brother would be very proud. And sorry for your loss. Just one question....what did you use to strip your frame of rust and grease? wire wheel or chemical? I look forward to future pics of this one!

Thanks Bulldog. I stripped it with a few different wire brushes then acetone. It was a real PITA but turned out pretty nice.

Love the work on the frame. I'm hoping that the Z06 brakes become a reality. Is it a custom set up to fit them in the rear?

Yeah, they have kits for 12 bolt and 9" rear ends so I had 9" ends welded on my rear end housing. It was a pretty involved ordeal.

I'm moving very slowly unfortunately. Hopefully the funds will get better sooner than later so I can get back to it.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

I worked on mounting the gas tank. I changed up my plan a bit to be more like an oem type where the straps sinch the tank into place. My buddy at the sheetmetal shop made me some mirrored stainless steel straps.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

The tank is from an 88 Blazer and the new sending unit locating tabs weren't in the correct location for the baffle in the tank. I cut the locating tabs off and rotated them around to locate the unit in the correct position. Probobly saved me an hour or so of trying to explain the issue to the guy at the parts store.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

I also got the brake plumbing started. I welded the hose tabs and made some 16ga. straps to route the lines on the rearend.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

looking great, Matt--How are you doing the gas tank inlet piece. Is it coming up in the box or are you somehow coming out the side of the box again !!!! Nice work, though !!!

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project

Thanks man,the filler neck is actually still under the bed, there is a 2.5 inch gap between the top of the frame and the bottom of the bed. I was going to relocate the gas fill door to behind the wheel opening but I am now planning to shave everything so i'm going to come into the rear corner of the bed. I have a pretty cool fill neck I ordered, it will come through the bed and come out right by the tailgate.
