Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hi guys. Geno here. After years of waiting for the time & $$ to be able to have a project, I found a '94 S10 to keep me busy...that was until I found her. My '62 longbed. Didn't take long to sell the S10 and the next day I drove her home. I soon found this site and I was ready to rock & roll. I've learned a lot about the 62's from here and expect to learn a whole lot more. Will post some pics soon.
Good day! |

Howdy yawl, I'm Rick and I'm building a '66 burb. I've been reading more than posting here and am learning a lot about these old trucks -and loving it.
I'm a photographer by trade, click 'my photos' in my sig if you'd like to see some of my work. Here's Westergard before I started tearing him down. Plans include: LS1, static drop (with the proper upgrades), steelies with caps, etc. keeping it simple and doing as much of the work as my skills will allow. |

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
I'm Chris. I've owned my share of Chevy trucks...but I think at last count I've owned something like 40 cars since the age of 14 (and that's not counting cars / trucks I parted out to fund other projects LOL). Started with a beat 67 Chevelle and it's never stopped.
Was given as '65 C10 LWB Fleet and it's going to be my 15 year old son's first vehicle.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
My name is Craig, my friends call me Craigerrr, the more rrr's, the closer the friend! Have just been here for about a month. I am so greatful for all of the help and input I have received since joining. I drove a 57 Chev SWB Stepper in highschool, since then I have owned a 67 Mustang, 63 Falcon, 71 Cuda, have to scratch my head to think of the others. This is my first 60's chev pu, searched long and hard for it. It was built in St. Louis, lived in Arizona until 1986, then in Wisconsin until this March. In the last 25 years it only had 4000 miles added to the odometer. It needs the TLc that any 46 year old vehicle needs, but it is solid, surface rust only.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Been lurking for a long time...
1965 SWB, totally, completely built my me, owner. Never have I done a build before and I am determined to do 'everything' myself ! 2 1/2' drop spindles, 3' lowered rear springs, disc brakes- front, near 500HP 383ci stroker, custom paint w/ lace, custom cloth teal/gray interior and dash and guages, custom tail gate, welded solid, 3" Flowmaster exhaust, 411 rear gears, custom wheels, fatty BF Goodrich tread, 2 fuel tanks, 22 gal. for pump gas and 5 gal. of race gas. Hedman headers, 7 qt oil pan, TH350 trans w/ oversized oil pan, oil/trans coolers, brake line lock, battery w/cut off switch in bed, tonneau cover. Owner has done everything but build the engine and trans. Are they ever done,, not ! The very most challenging part, seats and door panels... I gave up twice ! Completely started over 2 times, tossed the upholstery and redid it 2 times, finally finished it on the 3rd try. I have never done anything like this before ! Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hey guys,
I've been lurking this site for about 2 whole years now. Never owned a truck before. Nor did I ever really want one until I started looking around on here. I finally sold my riced out Honda about two weeks ago, got pre-approved for a little loan and started shopping. There are always tons of 60-66 chevys for sale on Craigslist here but didn't find any I liked here in town. So after looking at classifieds in my neighboring state Arizona, I found the perfect 65. She drove back great All 7 hours. Good bonding time My new daily driver and project. The bed is a little weird. Can't figure out why they shortened the bed the way they did but I'm okay with it. Rebuilt 350, T-5 5speed and 273 posi from an 1988 Z28. Headman headers, Flowmasters. Power steering, power disk brakes. Frame has been sanded, sealed and painted. All new bushings and seals in the rearend. New Battery and all new wiring under the hood. And the gas tank has been placed under the bed. I think I want to bag it. But we'll see how things change. |

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
I just bought a 65 SWB BBW Fleet Custom Cab in 500AA Raven Black last night. Originally built in St. Louis, sold new at Harold Gwatney Chevrolet in Jacksonville Arkansas for 2154.00 I need to pick it up in a few days and bring it home.Truck now has a 327 small block with a turbo 350 tranny and 3.08 gears with a new Eaton posi.I now have the truck for my next project. Not sure which way to go with it yet and need to do lots of research. I've been looking at everything from mild static drops to the drop member setups and have no idea what I want yet.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hello, Im Jeff. Here is my 61 GMC. I am slowly fixing her up as money permits. I actually bought the truck from a guy in California. I flew out there and attempted to drive it all the way back to Texas. It would have made it to but the generator went out about half way back. Had to get my wife to come get me and we trailered it back. It was fun though. I also restored a 66 mustang for my wife last year.
I live in Texas close to Galveston. If any of you get to this area hit me up and we can get together. I know the wheels look terrible, its on my list of things to do Last edited by thebeast61; 05-16-2012 at 08:15 AM. Reason: pictures |

Hello, this is our new to us 65. We got it for our 14 year old daughter ( she picked it out ), we are going to lower it about 4-5 inches and just drive it for awhile then when she turns 16 it will be hers.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
Hi MikeS. here, I've owned 5 or 6 of these Chevy trucks over the past 40 years. From short steppers to BBW LB fleetsides. My 1st 41 years were in Fresno, Calif where there were a ton of these available. When I moved to WV in 1998 I sold my 66 BBW LB, didn't think I could tow it all the way cross country. Stupid me. The truck needed a lot of work, but...
So today I agreed to buy a "63" 4x4 Burb. It has a 63 body, frame from a late 70s 4x4 and a 454 from an 87 burb. I call it a FrankenBurb. I should have it in my possession next week. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1336627205

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Member Introductions
I just hauled a '63 shortbox back from California. This truck supposedly has been sitting on the back lot at a Chevron oil field for the last 34 years. The paint scheme is a little odd, and from what I can tell by pulling the skin off it looks to be factory painted Chevron Colors. The 6 cylinder is locked up solid, but I have a donor vehicle parked next to it ready for some parts swapping.
The short time i've been on this site has proven to be well worth the hours of reading, I look forward to learning and talking to all of you as my project moves forward. |
