Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
I like the long body lines of the fleetsides, just seems to be much sleeker.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
Stepside beds just look out of place when viewed from the rear- the cab looks so much bigger than the bed. The older trucks (pre '60) didn't have that problem since the cabs were smaller. The proportions just don't look right to me on the newer 60-66's.
Fleetside beds fit the proportions of the cab much better since they're the full width to match the cab.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
I'm partial to the fleetsides myself, but the stepsides do look good with a ton of tire under them.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
Again, I like both the stepsides and the fleetsides equally.
I actually think the stepside bed looks better and blends nicer on our trucks than it did on pre 60 years. . . Now these look rad: Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
I prefer step in pre-60 but in the '60s my preference for ownership is Fleetside.
That said, a Prostreet Step cannot be beaten. |

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
My favorites are the short fenderside and wideside, but I love the looks of the 9 foot stepside bed. Also like the 8 foot wideside.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
fleet.
and even the earlier trucks I like the fleet. if I could find a big back window farm truck and a gmc fleet bed I would have my next project started.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
I like the looks of a bagged short Stepside a lot. I also think that Stepside trucks look more retro than the fleetside trucks. If I could have two trucks I would be looking for a short step next to go with my long fleet.

Hmm... Hey Vernski, regarding the above quote - you talkin' about enjoying women AND men, or steps and fleets? ...not that there's anything wrong with that. lol. P.S. - You gotta love replies to posts that are years old. |

Fleetsides are pretty but Stepsides are Gods own Truck Design and if they were any better he'd-a kept em in Heaven for Himself!

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
My biggest complaints with the stepside is the awkward rear proportions, and bumper placement. Oh and it's a pain if you want to haul anything in the little bed. It did okay bringing home the fleet bed I found many years ago though.

Re: Stepside vs Fleetside
For an LWB, the only answer is fleet. For SWB, both look great.
As far as getting in the bed, grab the bedrail, put a foot on the top of a tire and get in. |

There was a lady who made a reply, nothing homo going on here my friend. But I can see how you might miss-construe what I typed. For the record I am a shlong bed fan but in the ladies dept. I like them big, little, short or tall and as long as they don't need a sack..Vernski
