Re: I Won the Ebay auction

Great buy, but if you want to see how much it is to ship to Scobey, Mt 59263, just pm me. I can pick them up and bring them across the border and deliver to Saskatoon as I have a daughter that lives up there.

Good question, I hope the owners manual is with the truck so I can figure it out.

It might have to do with the location the truck is in. It probably seems to be a long way out in the big middle of nowhere to the big city boys.

If it were me, I'd keep the tires that are on the rims that come with it if they are in good shape and slick up those rims and caps and then buy a nice set of tires for the rally wheels so I could swap wheels and tires back and forth depending on the "look" I wanted at the time. Run in the garage and 30 minutes later out of the garage with a different look and attitude and away you go.

I appreciate the offer but we have a local carrier in Saskatoon that I've used before and he will pick up the truck in Idaho and drop it right here in Saskatoon at a Bonded Warehouse ( so I don't have to deal with a broker that charges 200.00 to do 5 mins of paperwork) so all I have to do is go to CBS pay the GST and 55.00 to the bonded warehouse and away I go.

I had the same overdrive on my 66 El Camino three on the tree. All you do is pull the handle positioned at your right knee out to put it in overdrive. It actuates a solenoid on the side of the trans that engages the overdrive unit bolted on the back of the trans. The overdrive can be used in any gear even reverse. Six on the tree

Good thing you like the three on the tree because the overdrive actuation solenoid is in the way of the typical floor shifter mount bracket that is bolted to the side of the transmission.

Very nice score on the truck. My favorite color combo and the one I am doing with my 69 stepside.

Thanks for the info and I have no intention of changing anything on the truck except maybe upgrading the A/C and the front brakes to disc. I will have to redo the bed floor too.

Thumbs up Re : YOU Won the Ebay auction

Wow , CHEAP ! .

That overdrive is very nice but you must always remember to lock it out by pushing the handle before parking as you cannot back up with it in .

When you're tooling along in top gear over 35 MPH , just let up on the throttle and it'll drop right in , reducing engine RPM's by 33 % .

Failure to keep the tranny full of gear oil , will cause early failure .

Right about 33 % regardless of who's overdrive it is , this has something to do with the way the planetary grears work , I'm not a Math sharp kinda guy so I don't know .

What I *do* know is : by - passing the governor allows you to run the overdrive in 2nd. gear and so zip up steep hills (think Tenn.) with a 216 (or other low power) engine .......

An Overdrive also allows clutchless up shifting because the Sprag Clutch allows freewheeling.....

Just remember : there's no compression braking so have the brakes well adjusted at all times , no 1/2" off the floor foolishness like so many customers do
.

Re: I Won the Ebay auction

Nice truck Greg.

So why are you looking to upgrade the factory A/C? I replaced the compressor and went to R134 on my factory system on 68 and I am happy with it.

So will this be in Red Deer in August? If so I may have to plan to go.

What is the 'gold' truck? I think I missed one.

Hi Blaine, If all the A/C needs is a recharge and 134 that will be good. If it needs more I will probably redo the whole system cause its 43 years old. I am going to Ontario this summer so won't be coming to Red Deer. I bought a 70 big block CST in January and was gona daily drive it until I found this one. I have it foe sale on Saskatoon Kijiji if you want to see pictures.
