Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
might want to add some fish plates wher you welded the two frame halfs together. will add strength to the frame. less chance of it cracking in the future. just my 2 cents it is what i would do.

no problem. just wanted to make sure you guys knew. hate to see you get it all together then have it break. that would really suck.

Haha yeah, I'm tellin' ya man. That would definitely NOT be a good thing. But yeah, the frame will be fish plated. We're gonna make the frame as strong as we possibly can.

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Well, it finally looks like a truck!! Sort of.
Here's a good shot from the front. Had to drop the rear end, makes it easier to align and re-mount the front spring hangers

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
The right side cab mount section of the frame was damaged. It was also the wrong size and shape to splice to the suburban frame at that point. And the 3rd body mount was already in place on the suburban so there was no need to use the rear cab mounts. Farther back both frames are 4.5 inches high so we used only the rear portion of the frame rails since they were the same size. The frame is now about the same as a truck frame would be. Since this was our first build of this type we didnt want to remove the body from the front of the frame or try to splice the frames under the cab.

This is such a sweet build. I give props to you guys because seeing all the work that goes into your project makes me realize that the small stuff I need to do to my truck is easy. You are a real innovater. Thanks for showing this project.

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Thanks for the positive feedback. We wanted to build something that was just a little differnt than what anyone else had done, and the parts are cheap enough and easy to come by for 88 to 98 trucks. I would like to see more builds on the 88 to 98 trucks.

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Thank you. It's definitely been a lot of work, but it's also been fun to build. It's really fun to build something that nobody else has seen. Nice looking '67 in your avatar. Do you have a build thread for it?

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Looks good but you could have used the extended cab back and wouldn't have had to fill in anything but nice job and its coming together fast

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Using an extended cab would have been nice, but it's something everybody has done. Making it a custom mega cab is different. Nobody has done this. Thank you for the positive feedback. I just think doing it this way makes it more custom.

I agree with my son, We wanted to build something just a little differnt than we had seen before and after we looked it over this is what we came up with. I have never seen this done before. I would like to see pics if there is another one out there.

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
No what I. Was saying was you could have used the cab behind the window and you wouldn't have had to add a lot of metal like you have to do. I understand the concept because I was thinking about doing what you are doing with my truck before I did a regular shortbed crew cab. But you are doing a good job. Can't wait to see it. Finished.

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Well, just got this done this morning. Bed mock-up
Got a coat of primer on the driver side finally, and mock-up with a bed! Also, switched wheels around. So now we've got the old Silverado wheels off of my dad's 2000. Anyway, no rear-end, and the springs aren't hung. Tire is just sitting in place. But we're gettin' somewhere!

Side note: Bed is off of a wrecked truck. It's twisted all to hell, so it's not even. It's just being used for a mock-up.

You have more problems than just a missing back tire..

Re: 94 Suburban to Crew Build: The 50/50 Turban
Lol, we've got a full set of 4. We just have a lot more to do before it's done. We still have to completely hang the springs and get the rear-end mounted.
