Re: Wickid 54 build
I am going to build my own bed the one in the pics I robbed from my dad. There is some fine tuning that will have to be done but this gives you a good prospective of what she should look like in 4 Years, I think 4 years is a joke but it might just be the truth.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Looks good, based on the mock up will you shorten the bed to match the running board, or length board?....Jim

Re: Wickid 54 build
I have a set of long wheel base running boards that I will use. the fender placement is where they will be. when i had things mocked up I had an idea. Iam thinking of molding the running boards into the cab.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Man, I'm lovin' the fab work on this one!
The chassis looks killer, and I like the cab extension and the chop. Very nice work!

Re: Wickid 54 build
Well I started my bed this past weekend, got the inner panels made and mounted still have the outer to go. A little explanation on inner and outer. I built the chassis 47" wide to mount the bed sides directly to the frame. I am building a 2" void into the bed that will hide the 2 " wheel tub. With a 1” wider fender this will allow for 13.7 wide tire to fit nicely and snug. A normal bed is 51 to outside mine is 51 ˝, my top bed rail is 4” wide on the flat then the curve when normal is 4 overall so shouldn’t be to noticeable. The tailgate will close flush with the back of the bed to hide the 2” void plus a good place for a latch. That is all I have for now. Thanks again for the support.

Re: Wickid 54 build
wickid demon, Thank you. I made them. They are semi transparent acrylic that i bought from www.delviesplastics.com. Then drop ceiling deffuser to give it the prizmatic look, glued to the back of them. Then you can cut out what you want.

That is pretty darn ingenious, that never even cross my mind to do it that way. Thanks for the tip! I think I might have something brewing.

Re: Wickid 54 build
wickid demon, Be sure to buy there glue for the plastic. It works better that epoxy. Cut your ceiling deffuser larger than the lens, then you can use filler to bond it to the sheet metal. I ordered the 1/4 thick plastic so it can be contoured to the shape of the body. Sand it to the contour, tape up to paint color and un tape and clear right over them. Then the skies the limit for the shape of your tail lights.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Sorry guys I kind of fell off the face of the earth. I have made some progress on the truck, but with the new baby and trying to finish my degree time has gotten away from me. So here is my progress. I got the bed mounted cut to size doors on the cab fitted and the bed in primer. Ran into a snag while building the bed, the finders I was using for mock up where ruff and not the ones I was going to use. I had a good set that had primmer on them I just didn’t want to pull them out of the addict. Found out the hard way that they are not the same. For some reason the mock up fenders are 2” longer, every thing looks identical just longer. So some repairing is in need to get these in good shape. If you have any questions on how I did something just asked pretty proud of the way she is turning out.

Re: Wickid 54 build
Pretty creative solution on the bed. Do you have your build plans written down or is it all in your head? Keep up the good work.
Thanks Marc

Re: Wickid 54 build
Pretty much all in my head. Do have a lot notes and sketches in my chemistry folder. Hard to pay attention some times. I would like to get a rendering but 6 to $800 is hard to justifie.
