Re: 69 short bed

I was getting ready to mount the intake that I have for this build, and I realized that the intake has the middle water jacket holes, and my heads do not. So to aid in proper cooling I am going to set this intake on another 350 sb that I have and order the correct intake. I will prob. run a holley carb.

Re: 69 short bed

I just got my headers yesterday, and they look great. Stainless steel longtubes at a great price. We will see how they turn out.

Re: 69 short bed

Man, its been quite a while, my buddy had his mustang in my shop. And I had other projects going on so anyways here we go.

I just started working on the brake lines. I am using 3/16" stainless steel lines. I received the lines in a 25' roll so I had to straighten them out so I build this:

I ordered eastwood's professional brake forming tool a while back and decided to give it a shot this evening. This is how it turned out:

I am pretty happy with the test flare.

Re: 69 short bed

The rollers on the brake line straightener are from home depot and are actually wheels for sliding doors. I used 2 pieces of angle iron and everything is bolted with 1/4x20 bolts

I am trying to find a good hi ratio power steering gear box and found this:

or

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: 69 short bed

I did some work on the cab recently, pulled the doors along with the front and rear glass. I started cleaning up the firewall and removing some rotten rockers.

Re: 69 short bed

Ya know that DZ302 block is worth a lot of money you could sell it and have some play money to spend on the truck, I would toss it up on Ebay for a 2 week auction and let it rip.

Engine looks great in the chassis. Which tool did you get from Eastwood for the brake lines? Love the straightener idea too!

This really makes flaring easy. Ive never done it before and had a great looking flare on my first try.

Re: 69 short bed

I have done some more work to the truck, I installed: valve covers, summit high torque starter, summit high flow water pump, powermaster polished alternator, power steering pump, power steering gear box, march performance serpentine kit, I have a 700r4 transmission mocked up so i can drill and bolt the new cross member into place. Pics tonight.

Re: 69 short bed

I am finally getting the 12 bolt rear end cleaned up to rebuild it. It has been media blasted and powder coated. Waiting for the moser rebuild kit to come in to put it all together. I will also be running moser 5 lug axles with their performance cover and main cap stud kit. The cover has a handy fill plug right on top.

Re: 69 short bed

The pinon and differential is now set, new bearings all around, moser 12 bolt truck axles will be here tomorrow. I ordered their 5 lug axles, they come 5x5, but i had them machine a second set of holes into them on a 5x4.75 or 5x120mm for more wheel options.

I also received a rebuilt 700r4 transmission, I removed the factory transmission cross member and installed a new cross member needed for the 700r4.

The msd pro billet HEI distributor has been installed. Once I get the fuel tank and fuel system set up I will take a video of her running.
