I do too, Aside from the initial work I had to do to get it up and running it has been pretty reliable, only thing that has crapped out since then is the water pump. And I have put a ton of miles on it.

Re: A true tale of a country girl and her true love

no kidding! lol you had a battle with it for a bit there getting it down the road ...

i think my first plan of attack is going to be an engine in the 4Runner first. That way i've got a "truck" for bad weather and hauling stuff around ... Then i can quit abusing Ruby anymore than necessary ...

I'll probably put the order in for that this next week here, the "shortest shorts and bikini tops" contest winnings of $500 sure helps with that lol ... so we'll get that thing back on the road ... I hate to part with it, after doing the clutch, brakes, whole front suspension and axles, and whatnot ... it's been a decent little rig ... can't buy another 4x4 vehicle for a $1200 engine (local guy knows 3vze engines upside down and backwards and has been selling rebuilt ones for years)

I think that sounds like the most logical plan.

if you know someone who knows yota runners well put that dude back on the road. the yota motors have never been kind to me rebuilt 2 and hope to never do it again.

also the ruby red color you like i know is expencive i think beast had a good idea 2 tone it. that red and black with the right red accents will set your truck off and be sharp as hell IMHO

I read your thread and you said you would like a stepside bed. I have one I pulled of a donor truck and would sell it to you for $200. Its near Emporia. I was in Manhattan visiting college friends when that tornado came through. Sketchy for sure!

i got 210k out of the first one ... i'd be happy with half that out of this second one ... i love the stupid car ...

i want a flashy truck - call me an attention whore i suppose, but i want it to turn heads, and not just the chevy lovers, i want everyone to see the truck coming, turn their heads and go "whoahhhh" ... then i want them to do a double take and say "WHOAHHHHH look at that gorgeous gal driving that gorgeous truck!" ...

HOWEVER, in having THAT expensive of a paint job, and knowing once it's lifted i'll be taking it down gravel roads, thru the trees and hills, etc. i know there's going to be dings and scratches, and trying to touch up that paint job will be next to nearly impossible ... so i do like the two-tone idea with Ruby Slipper as the accent perhaps ...

l79m20 - let me think on the stepside bed - still haven't made up my mind on it just yet ...

I think we can build some mudflap brackets that will protect the paint well enough, also by doing the 2 tone, it would make it so as that it was easier and less expensive to have the lower part of the truck resprayed if you needed to. It may be an option to do the ruby slipper on top, and do the black on the bottom, im sure black would be cheaper. As well if you have to get it touched up you are most likely going to be repainting the bottom of the front fenders, rockers, and the bed sides, you should not have to mess with the doors, it is when you let it go too long and it starts to rust that you have issues, simply having something scuffed and reshot is not terribly expensive.

Re: A true tale of a country girl and her true love

I figured you guys would enjoy this. It kind of tells the tale of how Allie blew her transfer case last night.

I did the editing on the video.

The link to vote is here if yall want to.

And yes, it is ok if you want to strangle the camera man for holding the camera phone the wrong way!!!

Re: A true tale of a country girl and her true love

And Allie, a thought I just had, since we are going to have to replace your transfer case anyways, instead of buying another 10 spline case, why not see if we can find a 32 spline, and a NV4500 and stick it in there, if we get one that is a post 96 model from a chevy, all that is required to bolt a Cummins to it is swapping out the input shaft and bearing retainer, then putting a Cummins bellhousing on it.

I am seeing a few advantages of doing this, like the over drive will mean your motor doesn't have to rev as fast to go down the highway, which means better fuel mileage, which means you can drive her more, and the engine will last longer.

It is a bit spendy to go that route, but in the end I think you will be much happier with it.

Re: A true tale of a country girl and her true love

malibu - time to get her a truck :-)

and nick - you know i like the nv4500 idea ... now the search is on!

BUT, you know that you starting me down this path leading me towards a Cummins means I'm gonna hafta pick up a fourth job just to fund this whole project because that means new trans/transfer/bellhousing/engine, to put the engine in it, frame reinforcements, new axles, and beefed up suspension ... oh boy oh boy oh boy ...

Right but for the time being you can install the 4500 with the chevy bellhousing and run it until you can afford to do the rest!

When it comes time to put it in, I will run up there and give you a hand, I have my transmission jack that has a cradle built specifically for the NV4500, it works like a charm.

DEAL!!! i did a whole lot of thinking and not a lot of sleeping last night ... my mind wouldn't shut off ... started out thinking of my grandma who just passed away, and of course my aunt who passed a few months ago, and then i'd thought those out as much as possible, and went to thinking about trucks ... i've always liked the nv4500 ... and you know i like to put Ruby on the interstate doing 80mph ... which now that i've got a tach, i know i'm running just shy of 3k rpms (punish me, i know that's bad) ... so that would definitely be easier on the 'ol gal ...

and thanks for the votes guys! spread the word ... i'm up against a model ... and a country singer ... let's show 'em what a real country/truck gal is!!!

Loved the video Allie, good luck on the contest!! Sorry about the t-case though, hope you can get all that taken care of...I'm definitely a big fan of the Cummins swap idea!!
I'm curious, what gears you runnin in your diffs? I've got the stock granny low 4-speed in my truck, with 3:73s (only 2wd though, which sucks) and just cruisin down the highway at 65, I'm runnin 3500 rpm...so freakin low geared, I dont even try goin any faster than that, lol
