Re: Towmissile rebuild
Thanks, I'll have more questions. I'm still in the planning stages of how to build my 70 K20 as a tow rig/occasional driver. My goal is to have the truck ride relatively well, and still be a good tow rig when I hook a trailer onto it. I'm also looking to try to modernize the braking system with rear discs as well as a hydroboost setup like a lot of other guys on this board are doing.

Re: Towmissile rebuild
Any final pics of the towmissle rebuild? Just wondering how the truck is working for you? Do you have any interior pics? I'd like to see the placement of the shifter with the bench seat. I realize these truck cabs are different than the 67-72 cabs.

Re: Towmissile rebuild
Its always a project, never done! had it in today to replace a vent window gasket. heres some pics of the shifter setup. its not a bench seat though.
I made my own bracket for a stock 205 shifter, and an aluminum plate on the floor, with lokar boots. the transfer one is a ebrake boot. I still don't have the outside totally painted. one day maybe. will try to get some more pics tomorrow, its still in the shop tonight, working on re-installing my traction bars on it.

Re: Towmissile rebuild
Did you have to run wheel spacers to use the Dodge wheels? if so how wide of spacer?

Re: Towmissile rebuild
Yeah I have 2" spacers on it. don't like the spacers though, had alot of problems getting them to run true. prob gonna get some new rims when I wear out these tires.
as far as updates, been so long I dont remember! just been driving it alot. I did finish up my gooseneck hitch in it. found a b & W from a 95 chevy, and rebuild the brackets to fit inside the frame for it, and my airbags bolt to it thru the frame. works great. need to update some pics of it soon I guess.

Re: Towmissile rebuild
painted the hood and fenders, and 3 months later got hit in the drivers wheel and fender, so looking for another good fender. bed is still not painted! Don't have the time to take off the bed and do it, and the paint is so thick it has to be stripped. one of these days maybe.

Re: Towmissile rebuild
Hi there, real nice truck you built there, I saw a couple of pictures of your track bar install you posted on another thread and then found this build. It looks like you got a similar steering and suspension setup as I have and what caught my attention was your comments regarding a wobbly feeling from the front end. I have the same feeling here on my 91 suburban. Its a 4x4 3/4 ton frame, Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear, P7100 Cummins sat on tuff country HD 4 inch springs damped by bilstein 5125 shocks, crossover steering using parts from ORD, heavy duty front shackles and polybushes everywhere. Rolling on 35x12.5x16.5 bfg a/t on custom deep backspaced Stockton wheels. Reading your posts you sound very happy now with your rigs setup, is it the track bar alone that fixed it or have you done other mods to get it how you want it? I've looked at all kinds of potential fixes for my rig but just can't decide for sure, I think the track bar will help a lot but also been looking at hydro assist to minimize the stress on the frame, my frame does flex a bit, it has the little factory fitted corner bracket on the front side of the front cross member and I have fabricated a brace similar to the one ORD sells, also reinforced the front cross member and I thought all was good until I went out for a first drive, I came back home pretty disappointed. Anyhow, I'm sorry about this long post but looking at what you have done and the experience you have then you are in a good position to advise me. Thanks
