Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
I somewhat cheated for the crossmember placement. I had the donor frame from the firewall forward. Before I dissassembled the crossmember I used a cheap can of orange rattle can paint to mark the placement of the donor parts on the old frame like a stinsle. Then I used the steering box mounting holes and a reference point in which to measure and mount the crossmember.

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
I am seriously considering swapping the cammed 6.0 from the Datsun and 5.3 in the K5.
The 6.0 in the K5 would easily make a low 13 second driver, which is quicker than most cars on the road, not to mention trucks. The Datsun will still be quick, especially if I have the converter re-stalled to 4000 and hookup the squeeze kit its had forever, but never used.

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
Finally dropped the ass end down.
Swapped out the overload spring for a flat instead of the curved one. Looks 10x better IMO. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
Your Blazer is looking pretty sweet, like the white. Are you going to keep the roll bar in? Any thread on your top conversion? Been thinking of doing mine, but hesitant on cutting anything!

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
what was the end results on the drop? is it a 3/5? i really love the stance. how much clearance do you have between the bumpstops and the axle? your 20x10.5's look good....did you end up putting the spacers in there?

I ended buying 1.25" adapter/spacers to center the wheel/tire in the wheel housing. Plus it got rid of the 'tucked' look too.

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
For the transfer case shifter?
Nothing. I havent even removed the shifter. The plan is to make a cardboard template and make a steel plate to bolt in the same spot as the shifter. Then I ever replace the carpet, I'll stitch weld it into the floor hump while the carpet isn't there to catch fire. The reason I haven't done anything with yet is because I didn't want the eye sore of a missing carpet patch. So far no one that has seen the truck at the local cruise nights has mentioned the shifter, it isn't bothering anything else, so it might just stay until I do a carpet kit.

Re: My 4wd to 2wd Conversion
I would be happy with 430 at the crank. It sure sounds sweet on the dyno. Will it hook at all? I'd like to see a vid of some tire some tire abuse.

It actually dead hooks, gets alittle squirmy on the 1-2 though (usually blows the tires away for a sec). To be honest, with my luck on blowing 8.5" 10 Bolts to pieces, I am a bit cautious to start power braking just for the fun of it.
