That's what I like to hear.

Re: My 72

Sorry for no updates, but here is current update. I have nothing to report. Called body shop earlier in the week, has not even ordered parts for it yet. Long story, but that is the short version of it. Depending on how you see it, it may be lucky that he has not started on it. Doing projects at the house and getting ready to build a new garage for the truck. Kinda nice for now to have it out of the way and not around taking up my time driving it around. Sure gonna make up for lost time when I get it back tho I tell ya.

Ahhhhh, I have to say it looks better with the rallys. Considering the whole patina thing the rallys fit the age of the look plain and simple.

Re: My 72

i can take it either way. really torn on what to do with the wheels. really, what to do with the truck. thinking the original engine will be pulled this winter and a "worked" small block will go in its place for now. all i know is the body and paint will be left for now

Re: My 72

Fist off, sorry I have not updated the progress. This summer has been an adventure to say the least. Anyways, here are some of the before and after photos. It took some time to get it fixed, but it is fixed and now I have it back. Think the body shop did a damn decent job. Very happy. I would really like to find a bed for the truck that is all patina'd out in blue. That is a tall order. Bed has been replaced at some point and wish it just matched the rest of the truck

Looks good! So they actually "Patina'd" the bed for you as well?

Yes they did. That is a complete new bed side. The trim I located out of Florida. It was long bed trim that we cut down. Actually trim matches pretty decent to the rest

I like it. They did a good job. Now just bring the truck over to Des Moines and I'll get that " Retail & Wholesale " put back on the bed sides and weathered.

Re: My 72

Looks great, maybe the skipper could have sanded a little more down to get more "patina" started on the bed side but great work non the less. Maybe get out there with some sand paper and water and wet sand to thin it out? I love this truck

Still up for grabs on the bed lettering. I think I'm gonna start searching hi and lo for a rusted out blue bed. Winter is coming, I hope to have the time to look. But if I do decide, be a nice drive over to Iowa.

Yeah I agree, needs a lil more. However, the pics really don't do it any justice. They did a great job with it.

Re: My 72

So, I have a question for everyone. New garage is being built and I will have the space to start working. I have an 87 short bed in need of restore. May start with that. The question is I really think the 72 needs a better stance. I really like the idea of laying frame. Not sure if I have the budget yet for that. So the question is, what do you all think would be the best to get this truck down, air system, hard parts etc. The drop on it now is heated and weighted down front coils and a flip kit in the rear without a c notch. Oh yeah, truck has rear leaf springs.

doubleb's - please can you give some advice on how do I paint on the truck and get it weathered, is there some special technique or is there a trick to it? I want to use my truck for our shop down here and want to paint the business name and info and weather it.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I will give you a little advice. So PM me and I will get you my email address and I will give you a detailed way of how I do it. There are many ways to achieve what you want to do to your truck and there was even a thread posted on the message board that you may be able to search for by a guy that just gave it a go and it turned out pretty nice for someone that has never done it before. Just PM me and I'll get you a list of tools and techniques to make it look 40 years old.

Re: My 72

Hey all,
New guy bringing back an old thread.
Not entirely sure how I came across this, because I wasn't looking for it.
That truck used to belong to a friend and his son for awhile. Sounds like that truck has gotten around. Dan had it in 2011. I think he got it out of Iowa.
He brought it to Minnesota. Dan was the one who put on the Coy's wheels and lowered it some. I did a photoshop of the truck for him prior to him buying the wheels. When he sold it, the truck went to Ohio to a guy named Boris, who buys and sells. The truck was sold outside of Ohio, and apparently moved around the country quite a bit. I don't have much else to offer on the truck other than some photos including the photoshop image. Looks like somebody has messed around with the lettering. The GM on the door wasn't blue when Dan had the truck. Photos-enjoy.
