First coat of high build pimer, next sand it out with 220 and correct any minor pinholes or scratches I missed, then one more coat of high build then same and paint.

Filled in th old heater openings in the dash to clean up the look of the firewall a bit and mounted the vintage air evaporator under the dash. I also cut the rockers off so I could start the rust repair there.

I made one of the best purchases ever today. A sandblaster! I have to say if you have a place to use one it makes life so much easier. I can't believe I waited so long. Anyway, back to the truck 400 lbs of sand later the inside and outside of the cab have been blasted. Now I just have to figure out the best way to do the bottom and then tackle the rust I have found, which wasn't a whole bunch more than I already knew about. The unfortunate thing is always the PO, or maybe the PO before him. Someone thought that body filler would be a good seam sealer as well as the correct repair for pinholes around the fender bolts in the cowl. Glad I stripped off the primer that was on it, I (as we'll as most) have been burned by assuming work already done was done properly.

What kind of sandblaster did you pick up and where if i may ask? I was literally looking at one today at TSC. It was a 20 gallon black bull i believe. I hesitated on buying it though it had mixed reviews.

I would also like to know. I'm at the same point on my cab and I assumed the previous work was done properly but I was in for a rude awakening when I started cleaning it up.

This build is great. I love the ideas going in here. Also just picked up a blaster. It works great with the fine sand but anything bigger those nozzles get clogged. I also only have a 28 gal 10cfm and 90 psi tank.

Flipped the cab onto its back to tackle some rust before I hit it with the sandblaster. All four outer supports, inner and outer rockers, front and back a pillar repair panels have been purchased and hopefully will arrive before next weekend.

Just a sample of what all four outer supports looked like. I removed both fronts and started patching the drivers floor where the support had started to weaken the floor itself.

One of the not so fun or exciting tasks this weekend, rust repair. A pillars, floor supports, footwells, and a little bit of the floor around the supports was in need of some attention. I bought my panels from classic industries and went to town!

Over the holiday weekend, I was able to sandblast the repaired cab floor and supports, then I painted and undercoat it. One of the things we do at work to make undercoating look better is to spray it from about 3 ft away. This produces a very nice texture instead of the thick runny, globbed look that happens when you spray at the recommended 10-12". It does produce a little bit of an overspray mess on the floor and anything you don't want to undercoat. I wasn't too concerned about overspray since the rest of the can hasn't been finished, but I did put a drop cloth down in front of where I was spraying.
