Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
I took a few pictures of the crossmember, with the stock front suspension complete dropped (no coils) for some reference of clearances. Tire is a 215/65-15 (26" Diameter) ....Stock spindles.
(NOTE: V6 engine rear crossmember sitting on floor) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Otherwise Stock, with coils removed: - -

Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
You are the man! Gonna look for a doner x-member to do this now! Are you gonna brace behind the upper control arm? Those two holes used to have frame behind them right? Think this is going to flex too much? Just rebuilt my whole front end too...darnit!

Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
Thanks guys ....
Yes, the plan is too add some material behind the towers. This will also give me the spacing need to run factory engine mounts. I assembled this with just a few fasteners just t get it out of my home garage. It will all get blown apart after steering mockup ...

Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
yeah thank you very much for passing this on. I just finished putting my front suspen together using this method, turned out great. I also found some bag cups that I welded in to give me more travel. Now I'm having to deal with the steering, because of the added travel my steering shaft is hitting my control arm, anyone have any ideas?

Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
Anybody have a pic of the steering interference? Im out side looking at my uncut crossmember and Im not seeing it. Looks like the inner tie rod ends will clear the frame and uppers. I have the stock 87 steering and crossmember with my stock '62 steering box and 87 idler arm.

Re: HOW TO: Crossmember sectioning ...
The steering will have to be raised.
I have been to busy with customers ride to even have time to get back on Burban. The set-up on Dino's ride is pretty much what has to be done.
