They can be found on ebay if you still want a rolling memory maker. My bikes take me back to the good ole days too. I wasn't much of the mechanic back then but I picked up most of my love for tinkering and customizing from bikes. They make 22" and 24" bmx now these days for us gray headed dudes if you want to cruise around with your son

Re: any freestyle bike collectors out there?
Picked up a really clean mid-schooler today. I purchased it from the original owner that bought it for his son who only rode it a couple of times and it has sat in their house since then. 1997 GT speed series team box frame.

Re: any freestyle bike collectors out there?
Maybe you guys can help me remember which bike I had.
It was a late 80's Haro freestyle bike. You could get them two ways, either with mags or 48 spoke wheels and it was called something a little different depending on which one you chose. Mine had the 48s on it. Haro FX...? My memory of it all has faded so much. Frame was kind of a medium blue. Odyssey gyro ? Peregrine rims ? The brake pads were little Vans shoes. The tires had little footprints instead of tread. It's been too long... |

Re: any freestyle bike collectors out there?
Beautiful welds, huh? Is it really light? I hear that Chromoly frames are smaller because the tubing is strong and that helps weight and on aluminum frames they are light but there is more material.
Aluminum race frames are ideal because they are light but also stiffer in the turns....and that rear end couldn't get any stiffer! Awesome bike man

Re: any freestyle bike collectors out there?
that's a top of the line GT and the parts like the 3 piece cranks make it a "team". Team models are usually the best and most of the time the factory riders will ride them. It probably rides great and looks like its roomy with a long top tube. A 6' guy would be able to ride that and not feel cramped.
