Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
i,ve heard that the grapplers sound like a small plane when at hiway speeds. you'll have to let us know. i know the swamps sing pretty loud at sub-hiway speeds. over 55 me & the wife have to shout at each other(not such a bad thing i guess, heh, heh)

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
You've really got me looking into boggers now ha. Thinking either 37/13.00r17 on 17x9 Ultra grinders or 37/13.50r20 on 20x10 xd diesels

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
Boggers on the 17s or mud grapplers on the 20s

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
boggers! hard core! i guess it's not your d.driver. never had boggers myself(yet), buddy has 35" bogs on a 94 ferd exploder, they RULE off-road!, but he also says he's afraid to take it above 50 on road. bias swamps can be hard to balance, one of my sx's came in at 61oz's on the balancer-almost 4lbs, flipped tire on rim, got it down to 14oz's. they ride great on road, except as i go threw 30mph, i get a slight vibration, just at 30- weird,i can live with it for the traction & looks

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
I got a buddy who has a ccsb and it clears 49 iroks no problem which when aired up are 51" and its got 8" springs + 5" block in the rear plus a home made rear hanger about 20" and in the front its 8" springs plus a homemade front hanger giving about 22" lift. top of the cab sat at 8' 6" on 46" baja claws. its a drw but it handles fine no issues going lock to lock

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
those radial or bias iroks? i picked up my sx swamps on cl, 5 tires & rims-$1300. pretty much brand new, where on the kid's truck 2 weeks & his truck got v.i.'ed off the road. i'm actually going to look at 5 38" toyo m/t's for $300 tomorrow.about 40% left, my spare for my toyo's is beyond repair, 5 of these is cheaper then 1 new one. now i just have to convince the wife(she just bought me a new front driveshaft for christmas)

Re: Might be the owner of crew cab
hope this all doesnt come off as a rant or bashing, just trying to address everything I saw you had asked about.
I had 43's on my truck with 6" lift no rubbing, but i used 2 sets of rear bushwackers to make the front openings same size as rear (lots of cutting, I think 9" total of metal removed) it now sits down on a 2.5 lift and clears 37's with room to spare, truck was 2wd and still has the 2wd rear hangers so a 3.5" block isnt enough to level it out but i will get it there. Boggers suck ...period sure they are great in mud but tractor tires are better and cost less if mud is your only goal, I wore out brand new boggers on a toyota truck in 6 months i doubt they last that long on a crew cab. I am kinda biased against interco since they bought denman then stopped making ground hawgs, the only offroad tire i ever found that wore like them is the STA trailbreaker, I have had thronbirds, sts's,tsl, tsl sx's,ssr, boggers, ltb's etc I liked the ltbs for a trail truck and the STS were great in snow (had them on a plow truck) I also hate to burst your bubble but if you have a 44 front axle the brakes are the last thing you need to worry about if you ever put 53's on it, bearings, shafts, hubs, ball joints...etc even a 60 really shouldnt be subjected to 53 military tires, 54 boggers and claws are about 1/3-1/2 the weight of the military tires, trust me I have 13 46" military's sitting here and have had 16.00r20 goodyears before. 2.5T axles are way to go for big tires you get the gearing you need and strength all for less then re-gearing stock axles. If you are planning to dd the truck and want it to look good 37-40" AT tires with nice rims would be best, if you are making a mud runner i wouldnt suggest a crew cab but 39-44's are possible if your willing to cut enough. I'll have to get a pic of truck now that its lowered back down, also I went with 37" goodyears on it from hummers they are a good dd tire as they wear like iron and cheap to buy.
