Re: 1970 Burn Victim

OK I am looking at installing a sway bar-which I already have. I installed one on my other '70 and really like it. This truck sits a little lower, does anyone have any suggestions on the frame brackets to suck it closer? I have power steering, so I can't bolt it directly to the frame. I use the ECE brackets on my last install just curious what else is out there.

Dang! I love this truck! One of the nicest steppers I've seen on here. I go right through your town on my annual pilgrimage to Zapata. Thanks for sharing all the pictures.

Thank you so much. If you are ever in the area hit me up! I am right off the highway in Salado.

I got some new wheels and tires a few days ago. I am trying to keep up with this truck while building another 6.0 '70. I went with a bigger tire in the back so that the front will have enough room to turn and the back will have enough meat to hook...sorta

The old wheels were sharp, but these look a lot more correct. Looks great (and shiney)!

Re: 1970 Burn Victim

Well it was time for some maintenance this week. My speedo has not been working for a while so I decided to track down the problem. I found out the speedo gear on the tailshaft had come loose and stripped the inner ring out so it no longer stays in place. I dropped the drive shaft and removed the trans tail shaft cover and then removed the gear located on the tail shaft. It was completely out of place amd no longer making contact with the speedo gear that attaches to the speedo cable...time to order a new gear. It is currently torn down in my garage...bummer.

While I was under my truck I noticed the exaughst was loose so tighter it up at well...then snap I broke a bolt...wonderful. I then pulled the manifold off and realized that a second bolt was bent so I replaced both of them. It was also time for some new exaughst manifold gaskets so I bought a set. Now time for everything to go back together...

Re: 1970 Burn Victim

It's always something. Jared and I just spent 4-5 hours this weekend replacing his catalytic converter that should have been take out 4 bolts, replace converter and bolt back up. You can probably guess why 4 bolts on exhaust took so long

You didn’t pull out the reciprocating saw or torch out soon enough.

You have to love routine maintenance. Especially when it throws a curve ball. Looks like you got it under control. Sure love this red truck! Keep on trucking.
