Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
Wheelsmiths artilleries showed up, finaly! Spent Friday at work masking up the chrome centers and painting the hoops. My fingers are sore so pics this week. Sprayed them a custom metallic rootbeerish mocha and buried them in clear. Took off for Seattle and can't wait to get to work tomorrow to unmask and mount the tires!

Coach & fisher - you guys look familiar from the HAMB. I'm wide whites over there. I haven't spent much time on this forum but joined a long time ago. Do y'all spend more time here or the HAMB?
Love both your trucks btw. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
The caps were sent wrong from wheelsmiths, so heres a naked shot of the chrome centered wheel, painted outer and a ribbed trim ring. Wheels are 15x8-4"bs rear and 15x6-3.5bs front. Tires are Hurst Racing Tires 235/75/15 rear and 215/75/15 front. Looks pretty good so far, better when the caps show up

Funny....I was just thinking about that tonight when I was tacking in some patches on the floor!! BTW those 235's look awesome on those 8" wheels. You have me rethinking my 7" rears. |

Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
Tires and wheels look great. That's the same size I'm running on my truck. I just swapped out my 7" front and 8" rally wheels for 7" smoothies because I swapped the rear end out and put 5 lug disc brakes on the front. I haven't got the rear end in yet so no pictures of 235-75 on my 7" wheels under truck. I plan to lower the backend a good 2-3" from the prior ride height. I'm looking to get the running boards level with the front. So a notch is on the plan with the new rear end install. I'm hoping to have it back together by May.

After swapping the 67-69 axle with the 1/2 wider WMS I wondered if I was going to need to run a 7" and how " ballooned" the tire would or wouldn't look. I would LOVE to lower the rear over the white wall and match the front, but with our vintage 20' trailer and 500 lbs tongue weight it would squat it even more than it does now. I run a load leveler system and thought about airbags, but keeping it static and simple seems to work ok. I am hoping to build a frame laying truck this next year to get the altitude problem off my mind |

I'd like to see pictures of the set up if you have them. Do you have a build page that shows it?

I have NEW 8 pack stock leaf springs, spring pack over axle and a 4 inch block. The ride is great unloaded and better/smoother loaded when it squats an inch and the 8 leaves can start to work. The pack is assembled with all new pins, bushings, shackles, shocks etc. and I drive it 340 days a year. After adding the recent modern radials, it handle alot better and now I'm going to install a rear sway bar which will help lug around the trailer too. |

Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
Yeah. I though you ment you had one of those setups where is the truck squats the suspension raises itself. Assist bags or something like that.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick your brain later when I start getting my rear suspension together.

Oh man Fish, that looks SO nice. Classy and JUST right. Not too little, not too much.
Can you post a whole truck view like above but with the caps? She's a sweet looking thing. I just noticed you have "brows" over your headlights. Those are NOT stock, are they? |

Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
Fish and Coach those tires and wheel combo look amazing.... I ordered the same size tires and was concerned that the 215/75's were gonna be way to big for the front. I went with Crager Deluxe 69 15x8 in back and 15x7's in the front, im still in the very early stages of my 49 chevy build and doing the S10 frame swap and now Im not sure if I need to swap out the 2 wheel drive rearend for one off of a 4x4 due to running the 8's in the rear, Im wanting to get that low stance big tire tuck in the back. Ill post picks as soon as I get them mounted, wheels are in but still waiting on the whites from Cody. Thanks again for the insperation.

Re: Help with tire size dropped axle Sub/Truck
ChuckyT....check and double check all of your clearance measurements before ordering wheels. Get the backspacing you need with the S10 chassis.
