Nice job. Did the stabilizer help? I have the same add-on p/s setup you have and I've thought all along that it needs a stabilizer.

First, some pictures of the stabilizer installed. The hardest part of the install was getting under the truck like a turtle on his back and then finding myself saying "Where's that darn wrench?" and then wiggling back out. Yup, it's right where I left it. It's a good thing I can still wiggle a little. I just think of it as my exercise for the day.

Thanks. Yes the stabilizer did help. A lot. It took the big squirrel down to a little chipmunk. It was time and money well spent. Time wise, about 6 1/2 hrs to make parts and install. Got the stabilizer from Auto Zone for $29.99. In the instructions on how to install the P/S box etc I think adding the stabilizer should be added. I've read a lot of the pros and cons for this add on and at this moment I have no problem with it. More miles on the road will tell me what I want to know.

you really need to invest in a $9 harbor freight 4 1/2 inch grinder and cutoff wheels
you could cut brackets like that in minutes

Hello Ogre, Thanks for the comments. Like a bunch of other guys projects on here its a work in progress. I just had to get it to where I could drive and work on it. That finally happened. I've got a collection of tools from HF and most of the time they get me through my little projects with no problems. I got my second 4 1/2 grinder about a year ago (went from orange to purple cases) and just last week the brushes gave up. The first one I got about 6 yrs or more out of it before it quit. My HF is about 45 miles away so its on my must stop at list next time going that direction. Meanwhile drill and use the
3" air cutoff. Thanks again, I appreciate all the comments and advice given on this thread. There are so many builds to look at in this forum and more everyday.

Earl. I was just curious as to what you did with the gap between fenders and hood. Did you just close this up or make spacers?

Hello papastrk. Right now it has spacers between the hood and fenders. The way I made the tilt does not allow me to bring the fenders back towards the door any more. Design error. But I can adjust the hood back by drilling new holes. I'm not finished yet, I just centered the hood and used 1/4" spacers at the back and 3/16" at the front. I'm sure this will change as I get more of the braces and such built and installed. I just bolted it together so could get him on the street. Its amazing how many times you have to put things together and then take them apart as changes are made.

So do you intend to space only at the bolt locations? I thought of doing a tilt frontend is the reason for the questions. I just didn't want to weld seams the full length of the fender/hood gaps with gap fillers. Keep us posted on your progress.

papastrk, No, I won't be welding the hood to the fenders or filling any body gaps on the front end. I want to keep the body lines and gaps pretty much as they are. Just have to make the bracing to keep the flexing at a minimum when its lifted forward. I've never done this before so it all a learning curve. I just have to decide how big of a curve I want to make it. Good luck on yours if you decide to do it. My back told me I had to do it.

My truck needs a fan shroud so I decided to make his. This also the first time I've worked with fiberglass resin. I just took some ideas from orge and made the rest up as I went along. He's definitely right about the sanding part. And this is just a small project.
