Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

I'd have to say the best money I have ever spent for my truck was joining this site 67-72chevytrucks.com by far!

Cool Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Well where do I start.

The first upgrade was the power brake booster in 1986 right after I bought it, then the red & greay paint job. Then I found a wrecked factory truck with AC and swapped it all over to mine. I have spent a bunch of money on the truck over the past years since 1986 til now. I would say the best money I have spent on it lately was for the Speed Hut GPS gauges I installed in it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

LS1/4l60e swap. Fell in love with the truck all over again.

You folks do have me curious about a sway bar... I'll do some pic-a-part diving and try to install one when I get to my front end rebuild. With 45 year old ball joints, I expect it to be some of the best money I've spent

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

The best $$$ that I have spent so far was the $3500 for this awesome barn find 1968 Chevy C-10. A running/driving factory ordered 396 cu in big block truck with PS/PB, factory air, auto transmission & a 12 bolt rearend. Since I've had it, so far the best $$ spent on it has been the window weather stripping, a new window regulator, new seat upholstery & carpet - since it didn't have carpet its going to make a word of difference & the new seat covers are going to be great too.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Without question, my best $ went to the power disc brake, power steering, 3:08 rearend, 5 lug conversion, larger sway bar, all for $300. Whole new truck! A little extra for booster, lines, bushings, etc. But still, best bang for $. This site is without question right up there for bang for $. You can never get enough information and experiences from people who share your passion. Kudos to you all!

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

First; AC allowed me to drive in real comfort in SoCal summer heat.

Second; Switching the 4:56 rears gears for 3:54 moved me from the slow lane with the engine screaming to the high speed lane with a very happy engine.

Third; Power Steering and smaller wheel stopped me from feeling like I was wrestling an alligator when parallel parking.

Those three things have made the truck much, much more pleasurable to drive. Other changes I have made are cool, but have not had the same impact as those three.

My 72 has a q-jet with electric chock and I love the fact that I have to pump it 3 or 4 times, fire it up and wait for it to warm up before I can go. I love to pull the vents open and roll down the windows. It does not bother me when I am sitting in a parking lot somewhere trying to figure out why I have no spark. I love it when it loads up at times and I have to clean it out on the back roads.

The best money I have ever spent on my 72 or my 64 is making sure it stays the way it was. I love the challenge of finding original GM parts. They are worth all the money I spend on them.

Amen brother!!!! I love the fact that my grandfather's truck is all original. I'm trying to keep it in as original condition as possible. My other truck, that's a different story.
