I got a set of the Modular drop spindles with the ears in a batch of PB stuff that I bought on here...I thought they were going to be the ones without the "ears", but no such luck. I also got the upper & lower balljoints in the buy, but the part # embossed on the spindle indicates '73-'87, but the balljoints with the PB arms are '63-'70....but they seem to fit the spindles correctly. How is that possible? I haven't actually put them on a vehicle, just a test fit on my work bench, but no excessive slop or total lack of fitment noted...? |

I sent a message to the CPP Ebay Store, asking if the Modulars have Caliper Ears, or they still need the extra caliper mounting bracket, and he said they still need the $75 bracket.

I would imagine that if you also replaced your springs with lowering springs at the same time you replaced your spindles with lowering spindles that your width would increase due to the springs changing your geometry and the results would be skewed.
I am not at the point of ordering my spindles yet but maybe next year. Now I'm going to wait to see if I can get the modulars as I want the option of larger brakes in the future. Great info here. Good work guys.

If you use the standard 2-1/2'' drop spindle and then replace it with the 2'' Modular 2-piece spindle ( bolt-on caliper bracket ) and change nothing else it will pull the front wheels in 1-1/8'' per side ..... THIS Has been verified by me first hand. I have been involved in three different trucks that had the wrong backspacing on the front wheels and were undrivable. We changed out the front spindles to the modular design and in all 3 instances it pulled the wheels in by 1-1/8'' per side and the trucks became drivable. These spindles require a bolt on caliper mount bracket also.
I stock the spindles and brackets and have sold at least 10 sets or more of them .... They work if you need to narrow the front track width on your disc brake equipped truck. I am not guessing on this .... this is FIRST HAND experience. |

So when you say "undrivable" What do you mean? Spindles were making it have erratic behavior or the the wheels didn't work?
