Re: 69 GMC Build
Also took the dash out of the truck last night to mock up the new dash out of a 59 Biscayne. The width and steering column location is almost perfect, the front just needs to be trimmed. We are going to try to get the firewall finished up tomorrow.

Re: 69 GMC Build
Jason was able to knock out the center section of the firewall and the drivers side upper panel today. Going with a simpler bead roll so the passenger side will be remade.
Also off topic but who can tell me how I can change the title of the thread? |

We worked on it some tonight, got the lower section on the drivers side made and clecoed in place. Saturday we should get the passenger side finished and get the trans tunnel started.

Re: 69 GMC Build
I think you have to PM a Moderator to get a title change. Looks killer. I can see why you want to change the title. I only clicked on it because I have had two 69 GMC's.

Re: 69 GMC Build
You are right, the dash is just sitting there but the location of the steering column in 1.5" different than the stock dash. The plan is to cut the dash down the middle and lengthen it to make it come out correct.

Re: 69 GMC Build, 20s, Full Frame, LS, Bagged, Bodied
I just found this thread. Very cool build. I will be following along for sure. I like the custom fab work on the frame. I like the design. Were the drawings done in solid works? Using the CNC plasma is allowing you to do some very interesting things. I don't have access to a CNC plasma or water jet right now. I am going to have to find a place where I can have pieces cut out. I want to try to do something like you are doing for my next build. Do you plan on taking the truck to Carlisle again next summer? I was there last year but didn't have much time to look around. I am only 2 hours from the fairgrounds.

Re: 69 GMC Build, 20s, Full Frame, LS, Bagged, Bodied
Thanks everyone!
Shady Chevy - yes the frame and all the parts were done in solidworks. The goal is to have it drive able by summertime, but it will be at Carlisle one way or another. Yesterday we were able to make the last piece of the firewall and get everything all tacked in. Going to try to get the transmission tunnel knocked out this week, stay tuned! |

Re: 69 GMC Build, 20s, Full Frame, LS, Bagged, Bodied
We worked on the transmission and driveshaft tunnel today, got most of fit and tacked in. Hope to have the last few pieces of the trans tunnel in Tuesday and attempt to get the back wall done next weekend.
