Re: Rookie Builder w/68 c-10 stepside std
Found the headers that fit with NO issues YET. They are the Hedman header(a little pricey but fit nicely). Had a guy come out and do some soda blasting for me. Ran into some issues with MORE rusted out panels. Will be spending some time cutting them out and replacing with new metal. Will get some new pics up real soon. I received some new parts so now just waiting to get the bad metal replaced so I can mock up the cab and body parts and see how the new parts are going to look.

Re: Rookie Builder w/68 c-10 stepside std
Mannnnnn lots of time to cut out the remainder of the rotted out pieces. My body man has A LOT of re-work to do. I am glad that I don't do the metal work for a living, too time consuming.

Re: Rookie Builder w/68 c-10 stepside std
Just noticed that my left door is a little different from my right door. My right door has a hole, for a screw, just below the wing window---left door does not. I am guessing that screw hole is for an adjustment clamp to squeeze the wing window and help hold it tight. My question is: will that door body lines be OK and if I fill in that hole will it be OK????? Which door is the original 1968 door and what year is the other door from?

If you noticed there is no side vents and the ashtray has been removed. Those vents were so badly rotted I decided to just remove all of them. Here in Arizona we usually have the A/C blowing on high all the time any way.

Re: Rookie Builder w/68 c-10 stepside std
I finally got back to doing more work on the 68 and will post some pix soon. A few things that I have done was build my own stainless steel upper radiator hold down, and it turned out great. I have modified my bed cross rails so that I can anchor them down so that there will be NO holes(for the anchor bolts) in my wood bed. I have the rear side markers cut out of the rear fenders and am getting ready to put in my fuel door on the left side and put a filler panel in the right. I have changed my mind on the Viper red color and decided on Silver. Will go with a black and graphite interior. I still say that you body work guys(filler and sanding) have to be the most patient people in the world---I don't have that much patience to do that. Just received more parts to test fit also. Without air bags and on stock suspension what is the lowest a step side can be dropped(and still drive regularly) with 20" wheels?????

Re: Rookie Builder w/68 c-10 stepside std
Got a donor fuel door from a Chevy S-10 blazer and put it in the left rear fender. Came out pretty good, even if I say so myself.
