Thanks all for the links. I got some reading to do. Also need to dust off Ruggles q-jet book and read some more.

As others have said, though. You may not need the full rebuild. Cliff's book will answer your questions about the choke and secondary linkage. That would be the first thing I would check. Don't be intimidated, just take your time. Good luck.

Re: Recommend carb for 5.7 350
Yup I may not need to rebuild it as it has been rebuilt just need to get the choke working and secondary linkage. I already have an unfused wire running from the fuse box to the engine bay that is not hooked up to anything at the moment so I will use that to power the choke.
I will make sure to take my time on this and learn as this is all foreign territory to me. Need to make a list of all the different part names of the carb so I can remember this stuff easier.

I wouldn't trade my 390 Holley for a boxcar full of quadrajets. I know a bunch of you like them, and you can have 'em.

Re: Recommend carb for 5.7 350
What in the wide world of sports is that cobbled up mess of zipties and baling wire where the fuel line comes into the carb?

Re: Recommend carb for 5.7 350
Honestly I do not know why it is like that. I have left things how they are as I got them and only worked on fixing wiring, starter, HEI and other maintenance stuff.

Re: Recommend carb for 5.7 350
That's just the po's attempt to protect the fuel line from the a/c bracket.
Something for you to fix with a new fuel line made from steel tubing. Rubber lines leak and make big fires. |
