Good for you. Finding the correct bracket and a spotlight with the right shaft length is what's most important. If you ever make it over to our side of the state we can go through my spares and see if there's anything that might be an upgrade.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Sweet, thanks fella's. Well, the one thing I do need is the 64-66 Chevrolet/GMC template, so if anyone has one can they scan and PM to me? Would be much obliged. Does the bracket also need a small gasket on the outside of the pillar, cause if so it won't be hard to scrounge up some here on the ship, lol.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

I made gaskets for mine. I don't know they are needed, but personally I felt better putting them on. I used some rubber sheet gasket and a .25 shell as a punch for the two small holes. Used a .50 cal shell for the spotlight shaft. Nice clean holes that way. You can hardly tell thet are there unless your up close. I made them just a hair bigger than the mount.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Oh...and no water leaks in cab since I installed the light in spring 2012. So I'm guessing they help some. I would think they came in the factory install kits.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Alright, I'll look in my factory accessories manual I have and see if it has that in there, it covers all line of Chevrolet, GMC and Corvair from 60-66. markeb01, there wasn't an inside bracket for the 64-66 models was there? Reason I ask is that 1963c-10's truck has the insde bracket for the earlier style light and truck. Just curious, that's all. Markeb01, I plan on makin it over there when I take leave after I get back here in the next month. Maybe we can fins something for an upgrade.

Dillon,
Do you know exactly when you are going on leave? Reason I ask is just so I can get an idea when your stopping by....trying to get my schedule to work

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

I'll chime in here on the gasket issue

I was able to find and purchase both the driver's side and passenger side brackets for the 1960-63 series. I too made my gaskets, I made mine from rubber. After getting this close to the finish line, I have decided that I'll never install the passenger side set, so I need to put it on the 'bay or find a good home for it.

An example of when your desires outstrip your ideas.

The custom bracket for the 60-63 GM trucks is the only one I've ever seen. Everything else uses the generic ring clamp and angled rubber gasket. The gasket goes up against the sheet metal and the clamp holds it in place. There are a couple styles of ring clamps but they do the same thing. If the angled rubber gasket doesn't seal well enough in your unique application, it's easy enough to make a new one out of fuel tubing:

Looking forward to meeting you if you can make it over this way. I have a decent assortment of spare parts and one NOS full length black handle should you prefer that color. And from a former Marine - thank you for serving!

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Well, I'll look at the pics more closely but I'm sure it has them on it and do look forward to coming out there after I go out and see T.J. and check out his rig. Who knows, maybe we can start a Northwest chapter or something, lol. Also markeb01 THANK YOU for your service, proud to meet a fellow service member.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Did some horse trading yesterday and picked up a spot light that looks about the same condition of my truck I thought it was cool because the top on the light had a GM crest on it, but it will probably never get mounted cause I don't have the guts to drill a hole in the cab.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

Ah come on...get the 1/2" drillbit out. I was hesitant at 1st too, but with the drill bushing and the mount its just a matter of keeping it straight. I drilled smaller holes as pilots to make it easier.

Marks write up is spot on and what I used. Read it through, print it off and just walk through the steps and you'll be spotlighting in no time.

Re: Any pics of trucks with spotlights?????

spacedebris, that's funny as hell. C/10King, it'll be worth it because you have all the things on that shaft to keep all the water out. Plus, you said it yourself, it's the same condition as your truck.

That's a rare setup going through the roof like that, not many like that. Yeah T.J., I realized when I op-tested it, it was off on alignment, but I could care less at this point, lol. I got pics of the CB installed too as well.
