Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

Its been a while since I updated my build, I finished the cab corners and also the lower cowl panels. Then I picked up my seats, the main thing i wanted was the seat belt built into the seats that way its easier and stronger then attaching to cab. I made the floor supports very strong to hold it incase of an accident. But when i got the seats the inside track was about 3.5 inches higher then the outside track. So i had to make new seat frames to level the seat out and to bolt down to the floor supports.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

It was simple fabrication work but took lots of time mainly from all the holes drilled and installing sleeves in every one

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

nice stuff, but yeah as I'v always heard, long turnaround. Seriously though for any company to make you wait that long, you should have gotten them for free. they look great and I'v only heard good things but dang, talk about a project buzz kill.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

After several times of cutting pocket and installing bags and recutting.... I finally got the pocket cut big enough to clear the big 2600 bags. Also I put my 2 inch drop spindles on it just to see what it looked like and have a little fun with it. LAYIN FRAME!

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

nice, def layin low. your upper arms gonna clear your manifolds? How about your tires with the front fenders? Cutting out the pockets for 2600lb kinda suck. I'm on my second dime frame and I'm looking forward to doing an OG frame next. Was gonna drop axle my 52' but I think I'm just gonna bag it, its up after my current build. I still think thor bros shoulda gave you that order for free, thats just bad turnaround. Coming along nice man. congrats.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

most s10 350 guys recommend 2600 over 2500 because of the weight and you can run lower air pressure for a smoother ride.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

Yes the bigger the bag the better the ride and you can run lower air pressure like 99 said for a better ride. The best thing to do is make sure the pocket is cut plenty big enough you do not want any rubs. This project should start coming together now. Looking good with the front end installed.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

Thanks for all the comments guys. But its been a really rough last couple of weeks. I messed up my bars for my rear 4 link so I had to order new bars and wait for them to get here. Then as soon as they got here my welder crashed. So I had to order a new liner and wait some more for it to get here. But while I was waiting I figured I mise well fabricated my own air bag top mounting brackets instead of buying them. Im very happy with how they turned out!!!

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

And here is my triangulated 4 link setup. It is a very tight fit but I did end up getting my top bars at the minimum of 60 degrees and also am at 75% top bar to lower bar ratio. I have my lower bars level at ride height and the top bars angled down slightly. The air bags are gonna be on the lower bars. Let me know what you think?

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

Hey guys 53ChevyKevin I honestly do not really know what for radiator im going to use yet. If I cant find one to fit I was thinking about maybe mounting it up more into the grill space but not sure yet. And Hussey the seats worked out really nice. I am really happy with them. They came out of a 2003? Chevy Trailblazer.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

Ok so I got impatient waiting for my welding liner so I decided to load my truck up and take it to my paps place to weld my step notchs on. First time its seen sun in a long time. But I got them all done now I just have to cut the bottoms of them off flush with the frame but im just gonna wait till I tear it apart and flip the frame over cause im tired of standing on my head to do any work

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

When I ran the air ride up and down the bed sides were sitting on the rear tires so it stopped it from going all the way to the ground so to fix that problem I picked up some brand new 2 inch wheel spacers real cheap off of craigslist and also bought some 180 degree bent tubing which I shortened and welded together to make a driveshaft loop.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

nice to see you back on the wagon. yeah the wheel spacers make life alot easier, hey you don't like 2" get 1" get 1.5" etc. We are spoiled these days with cnc's and all the info we need online!!! can't wait to see more.

Re: LS1 Bagged 52 Chevy 3100 Build

hey 99 the 2 inch wheel spacers could not have worked any better. they were spot on perfect, atleast with the wheels im using for mock up purposes. The tire clears the bed side and the outer fender lip so right now I dont even have to make wheel tubs in bed. But since I last posted all my updates I also made running board mounts and cut the orginal brackets and welded them onto s-10 chassis
