I built this Beemer from the ground up about ten years ago, I guess. Traded it to a friend for a really good guitar. He and I don't keep score.
But if we did, he'd probably be ahead on this one.

Now I don't ride bikes. Or build HD's or Airheads any more. I'm just a truck guy. But this one would have gone nicely with RAT.

Well I should have said the trail 70 as well.

Well that a fine looking ride there, my '73 is not as nice but it only has +/- 1200 miles and I go out a play ride with it some. My friend bought it from the original owners. He dolled it up some and I bought it from him.

I lost my 2 front teeth on one of those trail 70's due to racing my best friend and having the back end kick out from under me trying to pass him in curve. Still a lot of good memories. Mine was manual with a clutch and my friends was an automatic. Kept it for a while, my dad traded it and a xr100 I had for a 63 ford truck. What do you know, been truck'in ever since.

If you are doing a true restore to make it look 67 show room you need a 67 show room bike. A lot of people say restore and that really isn't quite what they mean. Cool idea either way though.

I took mine off a jump once, landed on my head. I dared a kid to ride it across a bumpy field, he did, it bounced around so badly it flew off the ground landing on him giving him a compound fracture of the femur. The bone poked right through his thigh and through his jeans. The poor kid had to wear a cast on both legs with a steel bar connecting them for six months.

Maybe I'm confused but almost any bike goes w/ everything.

How 'bout a same year Harley? Shovelheads get zero respect so they're cheap, and reliable if you build them with the later dare I say it factory innovations. Ok, even I laughed...

Yeah. After years on Triumph's and Japanese bikes starting in about '66, I started the HD phase in 79.
I built these guys...seems like yesterday...

From the upper left, the most stock one is a 78 1/2 FX I had in..no electric start. Got squeeze bottle and some
stick-on crap that rookies used to do.

Lower left was the '79 FXE made into a FLH. That one beat Arlen Ness' Tail Dragger in the '93 Easyriders
Bike and Tattoo Show in Vallejo. I got second. He got third. By then, he was already concentrating on Evos.

Upper right is a 54 Pan in a 57 straight-leg frame. Had a mag on it. Named "Kick Till You Puke".
Too far advanced one day, it put my ankle in the hospital.

The Sporty I built out of a pile of parts as a cafe racer. Damned dangerous. And the HD guys
laughed me off of the road.

I think the lower right was the rigid pan gussied up. Funny, I can't remember.
And it was only about thirty years ago. I'm slippin'.

Moved from there...(last HD build was a '71 Police Special FLH...blew a rear jug of on the test ride
ten miles after the rebuild) I went to Airheads, then some stocker Beemers....

Done now. But in my book, all bikes go with our trucks.

How about a 1971 Ossa 250 Stiletto. Does anybody remember these bikes? This bike was my father's and he rode me around many times on this one. I also rode it when I got older. He passed about 10 years ago and I hauled it to my house. Before this one he had a Hodaka 100. We use to go watch flat track racing in Statesville NC at Turnersburg motor speedway back in the 70's. Those were some of the best times I spent with my dad. Loved it! I hope someday to ride it again. It's from the right time period to be in the back of a 67 to 72 c10.
