I've got a couple lines on parts for this thing found an original white paint 65'1/2-67' d200 with perfect hood, grille, front bumper.... Bad news? The truck was bought to be a parts truck for them so the driver door is taken and I don't know what other things the guy wants from the truck.... I'm shooting to try and get the hood with letters, chrome grill with turn signals, chrome front bumper good condition, dash with ash tray and glove box, front door windows and windshield, any handles, driver front door panel, tailgate straps as well as taillights and housings

I'd venture a guess and say this truck is ultra rare. Like 1 of 10 existing rare. These would make similar year crew cab chevys a commodity.
I personally wouldnt cut it all up myself with how rare any short bed dodge is. Then again your already saving it. Just throwing my .02. A newer 360(5.9) dodge truck motor and trans with the computer would be interesting. Also consider looking into a newer dodge frame and setting the body over it. 2wd 94-02 dodge frames are almost free and you would get everything you want. A '65 that was in diesel power. Not sure if or how rare they are but certainly uncommon. The truck was parted out and left for dead, until the guy I bought it from, bought it just to use it for parts on a crewcab he had, but he decided not to since his was complete. The trucks pretty rough, and it's probably worse then a daily driver. But I plan to keep the body all stock, and just upgrade so to speak the suspension and drivetrain to something nice and reliable. My biggest things are, power, fuel economy, not hard to service/find/buy parts for and that can also do pretty good for if I want to tow something. So I'm thinking the only thing that can do all of that pretty cheap is finding a LS/4l80e and throwing that in I'll paint the interior and the engine bay/frame but the exterior body will be left in it's "patina" form and maybe shoot a clear over it

Rare. Dodge trucks were out sold by ford and gm nearly 3-1 back in the 50's and 60's.
Thats why I suggested the 94-02 dodge truck frame and setting the body over it. You get everything you want. Cheap starting point, easy and cheap for parts and you can tow and get some economy. The hard part is putting the body over it. I still think it would be easier then grafting different suspensions onto your existing frame. Then again I see your in that mess of commiefornia. Other members have posted how expensive used/donor vehicles are there. I can buy a 150K mile running and driving 94-02 dodge 2500 2wd ext cab long bed for $1500 or less with a rotted body here. More than likely under $1200. |

Yeah over here buying anything 80 or newer you can't get them less then 2500 at the cheapest.
I did however discover that Stewart Warner has started making the green line gauges again, so looks like the dodges instrumentation will be provided by SW! I don't really like the 61-71 sweptline truck gauges very much. They don't feel very 60's to me, and they look kinda cheap and an after thought. So the green line gauges will look 60's but also should work well with the truck |

Well today is the day I laid any doubt to rest that anyone's had about me getting this truck. Picked it up today, I'm officially the owner of a sweptline today. I've already began pulling the motor accessories (how few there are) off and getting ready to pull the motor and trans out, but I have cleans out the bed and I've began to clean the interior. Well been checking out weight of a 65 dodge crew cab 4x4 sweptline 6ft bed and says 4,679 pounds. The 318/np435/NP201 weighs roughly 880-900 pounds and the LS/4l60 (cast iron block) weighs roughly 650 pounds so I've been told so I'm looking at 230-250 pounds of weight shed off just in the motor/trans alone. Not trying to make this dodge some super light race truck but I am taking into consideration that the more weight there is the more the fuel economy drops and probably rear wheel horsepower. So for those reason any unneeded weight I can shed is better for me. Another thing is when I go to register the truck here in picky CA and it's not a 3/4 ton 4wd anymore there probably going to look at the weight of it to help decide what they should classify it

Got the 318/4spd out and everything off the firewall, still cleaning the truck and taking unneeded parts off. I did manage to find a guy selling 2 LS engines, 1 is a 6.0 with 70,000 for 700 bucks and the 2nd is either a 4.8 or 5.3 with pretty low miles as well for 450 bucks, so keeping those as an option. Going tomorrow to meet with a guy and get some dodge specific parts for the truck that I need to somewhat complete the body. Also talked to my brother (paint and body guy) about doing some PDR and cleaning up and painting the interior portions of the body and the interior of the truck and he said he's ready when I am, so now added to my list is to get my miller 200 back going again and buy an air compressor again.

Well took my 67 out to go meet up and get the parts, ended up buying a nice chrome grille for it as well. When I got home I decided to do a mock up and see how it's going to look. So here's a shot of that

That grill looks good, Good score. Those headlight rings are very rare and usually expensive when you can find one.

The gas pedal should be super easy since I can buy an aftermarket pedal assembly that mounts to the firewall and uses a cable instead of a linkage. |

I really like the Power Wagon version on the first page but I'm partial to 4WD rather than the long and low look. I think it's possible to convert the poly to hemi heads. That would be my choice

That's pretty cool, I find it kind of cool that they didn't change the body style for the town wagons. But then again I've been finding out with my dodge that they were very cheap as far as making constant changes in the body or suspension wise. That would be pretty cool to do that conversion

Found a set of (I'm not sure of the years but I think their) 61-67 custom cab emblems for the dodge, I like this early style better then the ones they used in the 69-71 trucks maybe 68, anyways just some polishing and some black paint and they should look pretty good.

Well I did take some pictures of when I took the bed off and CLR'd the back of the cab, not a huge difference but in person looks better. I also think I'm going to sand down that rust patch and repaint it since it's pretty rusty and it's covered by the bed. Here's before

Also found out pick n pull is going to have a half price day this weekend for their toolkit rewards members, so I may go and snatch up a crown Victoria front suspenion set up if I can. I need to find a factory frame specification and dimensions diagram for the sweptline era trucks and make sure my frame is nice and straight so when I put the new suspension there will be no surprises for me or for the alignment shop that has to tackle the job of aligning this truck haha

unless you want to do your own subframe or graft the part of the CV frame, don't do it, the stock frame is to narrow. now you can try to find a 72 up to early 90"s dodge truck chassis or clip yours with the same year frame, but does require some work. if you go this route you can lower it by using dodge van lowered control arms as they have a 3" deep spring cup

I didn't see your post til right now, why is the crown Vic suspension bad for the d100's? I know wheel choices are slim and you have modify the frame rails but I don't think that's too bad... Last week I went down and got the front suspension.. It was just under 100 bucks. Also received my custom emblems in the mail.
