When mine went bad I just replaced the valve with a nipple and used an inline valve in the rubber line. Since our seasons tend to change quickly I did not even bother hooking it up to a cable, just lifted the hood twice a year to turn it off or on. With a little cable work you could get it to work with the original deluxe control if you have it. Deluxe fan switch is electric so that will work too. Vintage Air, etc. do make heat only units too.
Thanks for taking taking the time to add this...

ive no heater at all with mine so i think the mini heating system will be the way to go...
just need to find a diagram that shows hose connections

again thanks for the info

Hi Whiskeymaker!

I like what I'm seeing of your build.

Regarding the background on your truck, in California you can go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and submit a form asking for the registration history of a vehicle as long as you write down your reason for asking. I've done this myself in the past when looking for the '55 Chevy two door hardtop my Dad bought new and gave to me when I turned 16. Of course being the idiot I was as a teenager, I didn't want it and he took it back and more or less GAVE it away for $450! It just kills me to think of it to this day.

Anyway, in my case, the DMV could not locate a registration history under the only license number I knew for it so I never found anything out. If the current owner doesn't want to allow you to contact them they just have to ignore the letter from the DMV. At least this is the way it used to go.

After reading all that, if you want me to do anything for you here, drop me a PM with the information you have and I'll give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Great progress! I love seeing body panels in black epoxy. It's funny though, the chassis looks so tall, we mostly see ones with a front clip welded on and a giant c notch out back. This is kind of refreshing to see

Thanks dubie.

she will be getting a fair bit of work done to her regarding straightness of panels and small amounts of filler(bondo)

I looked into all the mods for lowering the truck and clipping her and so on...but we decided against doing it all....my wife dont really like lowered vehicles ( most of my vee dubs were lowered) so the truck will be staying at the height she is at now.

Moving the battery was the best thing I done so far. easy to replace without getting under the truck. one screw and you can charge it easy, I will change it to a side post battery Rich

So Bruce has steamed right into the bonnet....

he had told me a few weeks back that the bonnet had a lot of filler(bondo) in it which only showed up during the blasting stage.....

i can see what he means now......

Re: A Scottish 55 Big back window

So,Bruce tells me he has been having.........."fun"....doing the wings !!!!!!

Before i put the pics up, it just reiterates to me how pics do NOT show how much work is involved in real life......even after all the projects ive done over the years, i was still stunned at how much work the wings have been for Bruce......

The wings still need to be sprayed in a spray filler, then blocked and then into high build primer........

anyways piccys

Holes? what holes?

these next two will give you an idea of the work involved...this is the left wing, the one that had the holes in it....
