Unfortunately, squarebodies don't have a corner on that market -

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

I sent the link to this thread to a squarebody fan/buddy of mine, they replied with these:

"When you go to AutoZone and your truck is older than most of the guys working there"

"When most parts for your truck can be bought off the shelf, for cheap, at any auto parts store"

"When parts from a truck 20 yrs older, bolt right on to yours"

"When you cave in a door skin and you can remove the door panel, punch it out and it looks near new again."

"When a new truck crashes into your SquareBody and you get a couple scratches, but the other truck is wrecked."

Funny story. I replaced my wiper blades recently. The driver's side wiper wouldn't "lock" on to the bump on the wiper arm. The whole thing would would flip up when I turned the wipers on. I took it to AutoZone and the kid behind the counter said he was the master at fixing these and walked out to my truck with me. He took one look at my wiper arm and said, "The end of this is snapped off. That's your problem." I shook my head, tried not to smile, and explained to the master how my wipers worked. He got me a new wiper blade and everything works fine now.

"When you hit the dash to make the radio work and one of your speedo lights stops working."

Too funny.

I've been playing with these things for 50 years (including 35 years in the industry) - but for some reason I am still intimidated by replacing winshield wiper blades.

I don't know why that is.

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

Keith, if you ever need help changing your windshield wiper blades, I'd be more than happy to do it.

In exchange, can you swap out my old control arm bushings for new ones?

I think that's a fair trade, right?

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

You know you drive a too low square when you have extra control arms cause the ones on your truck are trashed.

You know you drive a square when you have a aftermarket 3 gauge pod somewhere along the dash because the stock ones don't work or if they do you don't trust them.

You know you drive a square when you get excited when you find an uncracked dash bezel while junkyard scrounging and freak out.

You know you drive a 73-80 square when you tell your friends that if they close the hood to be gentle so it doesn't fold in the middle

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

I just read through this entire thread and I am LMAO, these are all so true and have experienced most of them. Now I can add my own.

When your ground circuit for your dash and running lights are tied into a timer relay for your gas tank switching, and it takes weeks to figure it out.

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

You might drive a squarebody if your steering wheel is bigger than your wheels.

You might drive a squarebody if you have to explain that those two lines in your windshield is actually the antenna.

You might drive a squarebody if your windshield wipers only have two speeds.

Re: you might drive a squarebody when

only you drive it,
wife refuses to with out you, cause only can start it in the morning.
only you can feather the gas when you drive it,to keep it running, till it's warm
you have to turn the truck off to order at the drive through.
you find a button on the floor, and it makes your headlights flash.
you have to pull the button to set the radio station
the radio has no balance control, cause it's one speaker...
everybody wants to tell you they "had one of those" "just like it,cept it had" ......(prob something better).....but it was new...

When you know what is going to brake next, but it's ok, because you already have an extra part in your shop.
